Context: After arriving and getting somewhat situated aboard the USS Thorne, flagship of Surface Action Group Victory, MSOT 8311, 8312, 8321 and the 160th SOAR are called into the central hanger of the LHD by Mark Stanton at a makeshift briefing area. Once there Mark provides the intel he and his team collected in the 24 hours they had ahead of the MSOTs. What follows is the briefing itself

//SECRET//JSOC//MARSOC From: [email protected] <Thomas Godfrey> To: [email protected] <Clark Williams> CC: [email protected] <Mark Stanton> Subject: Notice of Immediate Deployment Per orders from POTUS all Commands and Attachments are hereby notified that Task Force Cobra and all supporting detachments are to prepare for immediate deployment to Surface Action Group Victory in support of operations in the Sea of Azov. All commands are to ensure OPSEC throughout rank and file. CIA Assets will be departing at 0400 EST on 30SEP19 from Washington DC to SAG Victory, currently offshore of the Oblast of Podagorsk. Alpha Company, 4th Battalion, 1st SFG will be departing at 1200 PST on 30SEP19 from McChord AFB to SAG Victory. Alpha Company, 3d MRB, will be departing at 1600 EST on 30SEP19 from Camp Lejeune to SAG Victory. Upon arrival all commands will station aboard the USS Thorne and prepare for immediate combat operations. Briefing to follow The Under Secretary of State is currently in critical condition due to a roadside bombing which occurred while touring the oblast of Podagorsk. This development indicates a continued escalation of threat to US interests in the region. Recent events have included Russia's threats against the Ukraine, and resulting NATO exercises scheduled in Ukraine, the Ukrainian assaults on separatists on their eastern border, riots inside of Podagorsk and now confirmation of a terrorist organization linked to them. As a worst case scenario, if the Republic of Chernarus, or it's oblast of Podagorsk, are destabilized and occupied by either Russian Ultranationalists or by Russian Forces it will pose a serious threat to the region. Re-securing this region is vital to US interests. The CIA believes that the group responsible for the bombing is a previously un-identified group taking the namesake of the Red Guard that previously operated in the region. Current intel suggests that, unlike their namesake, they are a Russian ultranationalist organization, rather than a communist one, but the assumption is they maintain the name due to the terror and reputation fostered by the previous Red Guard in the area. Intel also indicates the distinct possibility of the Red Guard being Russian backed, though we have nothing concrete at this time. Task Force Cobra will be tasked with expanding upon the intel collected by the CIA and establishing the Red Guard's support, backing, organization, plans etc, and dismantling the organization in as swift a manner as possible. As was done effectively during Operation Bloodhound, TFC's CIA assets will interface with their local assets upon arrival, brief SOCOM once they arrive and will begin detailing a strategy for dismantling the organization once one becomes viable. Afghanistan; Where are we now? The Grand Central Times - Dateline September 12th 2019 The Afghan Flag flying over Kabul during a major Taliban Offensive in late 2018 The middle eastern country of Afghanistan has long been a hotbed for U.S. and NATO military activity. Cities and territory have changed hands so many times people have stopped keeping count and western progress in the region always seems to ebb and flow. The most recent ebb in the progress has been the Iranian-backed chemical weapon attacks which occurred just shy of 1 year ago in 2018, one in August and one in November. Since then, Afghanistan began a large spiral out of control as western backed leaders were assassinated, schools and roads were disrupted and NATO and ANA forces were muscled out of the entire northern part of the country. This action allowed ISIS and the Taliban to further grow in strength and the progress in Afghanistan to look bleaker than it had in years. This was, however, until a coalition of leaders within the anarchy of Northern Afghanistan banded together in the form of the Northern Alliance, a callback to a previous organization by the same name, and surprisingly began making ground against ISIS-A and Taliban forces. It is worth noting that while the Pentagon did not confirm the presence of US Special forces in this region aiding the Northern Alliance until mid August, there are many that speculate that after the withdraw of conventional troops, US Special Forces had a presence in the region much earlier than reported. Whatever the case, the fact remains that the newly formed Northern Alliance put an abrupt pause to the rapid expansion of ISIS and the Taliban in the region. During this time, alarming studies were revealed that as much as 45% of ANA forces had moderate to severe issues with substance abuse which resulted in a dramatic loss of discipline and combat effectiveness. This called into serious question the training, selection, and recruitment process being used by Afghan leadership and prompted a rapid turnover of much of the training and recruitment process to "NATO Specialists" who began a drastic rework of the ANA's combat potential. A few months later their efforts would appear to pay off, as in late July the newly reformed 3rd Brigade was deployed, with NATO supervision, to Kandahar to counter a major Taliban offensive in the area. Amidst five days of fighting more than 300 Taliban fighters were killed with only 18 men lost within the ANA's 3rd Brigade. The dramatic turnaround in the effectiveness of the ANA, or at least this group of them, is credited to the NATO reforms. US Special Forces conduct an early morning helicopter landing during training with ANA Finally, during mid August the Pentagon confirmed the presence of US Special Forces in northern Afghanistan who were directly interfacing with the Northern Alliance. We have yet to find out how NATO intends to deal with the Northern Alliance in the long run, as they have formed their own government and military forces separate to that of the ANA, but for the time being it seems that the US is more than happy to work with them to re-secure the country. This successful partnership and the steps back in the direction of stability was punctuated in late August by reports of intense Taliban infighting. There are no official sources that say what exactly happened, but rumors suggest an attempted coup-de-ta within Taliban leadership that resulted in this large scale internal conflict. Some reports say the coup was successful and Malik-al-ransoor, the de facto leader of the Taliban, was killed in the fighting and has been replaced. Other reports say he is alive and well or that the coup was crushed and he was replaced by another of the Taliban's leadership. The Pentagon has not commented on the status of the Taliban leader and only has said that US is "monitoring the situation." Whatever the reality is, the result is that the Taliban across Afghanistan have gone entirely quiet for nearly a month. The Northern Alliance, ANA, and NATO have seized on this opportunity and taken back major swathes of territory, now having only to contend with the remaining ISIS-A forces. The "New ANA" have reported several continued victories against the ISIS-A forces and a spokesperson for the ANA stated that portions of ISIS are now fleeing to Pakistan. What was a sharp downward spiral for the progression of Afghanistan appears to have been brought to a sudden halt through the efforts of local leaders, NATO and the New ANA. But, if there's one thing we've learned in the years of fighting, its that progress in Afghanistan ebbs and flows. Will this be the final stretch and settle the conflict in the region once and for-all? Or will it be another of the endless ups and downs, the country doomed to exist in a perpetual state of war. Context: An operation that could change the fate of the entire Middle East. After gaining approval from the highest levels of the CIA and Military, Mark Stanton, the CIA SOG Team Leader running Operation Bloodhound, brings the MSOT leaders into a dimly lit room. They are told that the following briefing, according to all official record, never happened and that these events never took place. They are then given a brief that would never be known to anyone outside that room, with the hard drive being destroyed moments after they leave. What follows is the briefing itself.

The Russian Federation; Friend or Foe? The Grand Central Times - Dateline August 17th 2019 Flag of the Russian Federation Recent reports that the Russian Federation have been boisterously threatening war with the Ukraine come, to most, with some cause for concern. Russian president Ilya Antonov (Илья Антонов) despite having ceased military action in Ukraine in 2016 following his election, has not maintained a positive relationship with the country. Political analysts are quick to point out Antonov's roots in the Russian Army, most notably as the Colonel who lead the Annexation of Crimea in 2014. As Ukraine prepares to further engage in trade agreements with the EU many assume that the Russian President intends to take after his predecessor and establish control via military action. Though the reported threats against Ukraine are said to have come not from Prisident Antonov, but instead from Prime Minister Valentina Kozlova (Валентина Козлова) it is widely accepted that both the Russian Head of State and Head of Government respectively, share similar mindsets regarding the use of the Russian military. Recent accusations of corruption following a scandal within the Russian Federal Party, have lead some to think that the threatening of Russian military force is simply a means of distracting their populous from internal matters. President Ilya Antonov in a propaganda picture taken after the Annexation of Crimea in 2014 Under Antonov and Kozlova the Russian Military has seen a rapid increase in strength and size, a fact which the Russian State has been all-too-keen upon broadcasting. The Russian media outlets, widely considered to be under the control of the state, have been steadily portraying the Russian Armed Forces as a professional and major military force, all while driving recruitment throughout the Russian Federation. Prime Minister Kozlova specifically has been a key influence in the increase of military power. Her focus on general quality of life improvements, supported by her counterpart in the presidency, have made many in the Russian Federation who are less well off consider military service as a primary means of life improvement. Major improvements to military pay, as well as other significant benefits along with government support to military members, pushed through by Prime Minister Kozlova in 2017, have served to further incentivize Russian citizens to become apart of the Russian Military. Despite this, it seems that the Russian Federation has suffered some monetary setbacks specifically related to the mass production of military equipment and vehicles. It remains to be seen if this will hinder their progress in the long run or if it simply a temporary setback. President Antonov has maintained a strong anti-NATO Rhetoric during his entire tenure and has backed his statements with military exercises that consistently put the western world on edge. The VOSTOK-18 exercise with China in 2018, for instance, generated a significant concern for NATO countries after witnessing a rogue Chinese General attack US and ANZAC troops in late 2016 during a joint exercise in the south pacific. The recently announced training with the Belorussian military, following the threats against Ukraine, follow this concerning pattern. NATO officials have announced a joint exercise to take place inside of Ukranian territory as a response. The United States and the United Kingdom specifically have stated they will be attending the exercise, and it is presumed that they will be doing so with a significant number of troops. Many fear that this action will inevitably end in conflict, while others think this heralds a return to the Cold War era proxy wars. However, it remains to be seen if there is any truth to Russia's actions being a means to distract their populous or if it does indeed indicate the return of a oppositional Russian presence internationally. Hmmmm yeah that would be more problematic than helpful I think. I bet it would be possible to just copy the mag as is but replace the texture with a drum mag... I would have to do a fair amount of research to figure out actually how though. EDIT: your comments made me think they just look like a regular mag but with 100 rnds. If that's not the case then disregard the above as if there's a physical difference it shouldn't be too hard to police

Hahaha fair point. To the removal from boxes idk. I just try and make decent reasons for having stuff based on CS, Company and S-4. Policy says we try to equip ourselves according to currently known MARSOC standards so I suppose it would be CS or company that could decide. That said, personally I dont think it's that big a deal and if we have multicam and AOR 1 in the box then 416s seem fine to me. It is definitely more than feasible to keep them as part of the Task Force Cobra arsenal either way. But if we do keep the M27 I would like to see that 100 round drum that Speirs mentioned.
