  1. Why do I play? I used to be in a WWII reenactment group for the 506th Fox Company in California and once I moved to Texas I could no longer afford to attend. MilSim scratches that itch for me and it doesn't require me sleeping in a pup tent.

    Why ArmA?

I loved ArmA 2 and the capture the island game mode. Unlike many of you, I never played online before Arma 3 but I loved the gameplay and the potential. I especially loved the Pilgrimage mission made for the Make ArmA not war competition.

Lately, though, like @Capt Koch, I too have lost my luster for the game as i believe I've pretty much seen all it can offer.

    Why us?

I joined the 506th after watching Drum's tutorial videos on YouTube as I was big into mission editing even then. Once the unit cracked, I didn't leave because of what happened but because my friends were all leaving.

Once in the 13th, I fully endorsed the change to MARSOC and was excited about what that would offer.

  2. 12 hours ago, GySgt Bingham said:

The reason people are roasting on the name "Operation Sand Viper" is that it brings back memories of the 3d MRB's first deployment which was named "Operation Sand Viper" and it was cancer to the brain because it was conceived by an inept section leader and done probably an hour before the due date. It was hastily put together and consisted of almost no backstory and story development in general and was the blandest and un-interesting storyline a brain could conceive. It was the worst deployment this unit has and will ever see. Kind of like taking a dump in someone's yard, leaving it there, and then coming back a month later expecting the owners of the yard to give you a cookie.

LCpl Buono, I can assure you that no one is roasting on you personally and if anything were having a good old guy laugh about the name. I will be there if I can and from what you have stated thus far on the story synopsis it seems interesting and I'm sure you will get some people who are interested in joining.

Don't let everyone else's memes put you down, we're just having a good laugh.

Plus I think only one task force ever got to participate before all hell broke loose and ripped the unit in two....

This was my into video in anticipation of said deployment.

    OPERATION NIGHTHAWK

    Situation

The Russian Federation has moved its forces in to the Leskovets region of Ukraine. Fierce fighting has broken out between the Russians and the Ukraine resistance fighters, with Russia gaining ground daily. As Russian forces have moved through the region, they have setup FOBs, radio networks and supply depots to bolster the units on the front line.

    Mission

Our unit has setup a small FOB on the western side of the region. We have been tasked with retaking all key points of interest located in the AO. This includes settlements, military sites and supply bases, as well as any radio networks we encounter. The more we can take, the more we aid the Urkainian resistance in taking back their home.

  5. If anyone is having thoughts about getting this game I would highly recommend it if you are a lover of deep, turn-based RPGs. It's difficult and rewarding and truly deep and immersive. You can pretty much do whatever you want including killing everyone you meet.

The best part of the game in my opinion is the Game Master Mode which lets you design and create your very own Pen and paper RPG without pen and paper. You can recreate D&D campaigns or make your own. If you're a visual person like me then this helps really get you in to the world and your character.

Check out this video anyway. It's awesome.

  6. I have dabbled in many things over the years...

I got into painting Games Workshop models when I was a wee lad. I used to play airsoft which later evolved into paintball.

My biggest hobby, though, is probably music. I have played guitar for 16 years or so on and off and have  Just recently got back into it.

  7. I work for a gourmet beverage company that supplies coffee shops and other businesses all over the country. I'm currently in charge of shipping and freight and my job consists of loading and unloading trucks, delivering products, IT work and even graphic design.

The work isn't exotic but I have a huge respect for the owners which keeps me around.
