So, GSC Game World announced a thing.
HM1 (Ret) (FMF) Pulliam replied to SSgt Gwynne's topic in Game Room
STALKER: Call of Pripyat and Shadow of Chernobyl are some of my favorite games of all time. They've aged somewhat poorly, sure, but the atmosphere and personality the games have are top-notch. The STALKER games are similar to Metro in some ways, yes, but they have much more character and charm to them in my opinion. On topic of the OP, I'm so on board the hype-train. -

Tonight I learned they don't call @LTC Brueske"Rubber Bands" because of his lag. It's because he's literally made of fucking rubber. (he was completely conscious with this blood pressure, which by the way was caused by being eaten by stairs)

I'm not really an "old timer", but the little bit of time I had before the switch from the 13th was pretty cool. My ITB class, day 1 in the unit. The last Misfit 3 Training (I think).

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. It gets a lot easier once you know every stash spot and where to find the best loot. I remember sneaking downstairs at night to play it on the Xbox, when I was younger. I had no idea what I was doing, but damn if it wasn't the best game I'd ever played.

hmu with that squad medic this sounds like it'll be fun! -
I've always loved milsurp rifles, and other old guns. I don't own any myself (that is a near future investment), but I've personally shot two Gewehr rifles (A Turkish G98 and a Spanish K98), a MAS-36, an M1 Carbine, and a Mosin Nagant (I hate them). Each of these, respectively: The history behind them is a big part of it, but they also just have a satisfying kick you don't get in many rifles. As far as modern guns, I'm a huge SIG fan. I know they're overpriced, but damn if they don't look good and shoot well. My dad's service pistol was a SIG P229 in .357 SIG. I got to shoot it and have been hooked ever since. I'd rather dish out the cash for a SIG than shoot a Glock any day.

That T-72 you blew up at 1:19:20 was about 20 feet away from me, you can see me pop out by the road a few seconds later. My pants were thoroughly shat. -
Definitely agreed. I do feel like there's always been two groups most people (including myself) associate with: their team/element members, and whatever "clique" (for lack of a better term) they get along with. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it'd be nice to see more general unit interaction. Something I saw a lot more of in early 2017 or so was people utilizing global chat for stuff like this. For example, just throwing up a "Playing R6:Siege in so-and-so's channel, come join and play". I know the forums are often used for this, but I feel like a brand new boot might be a little intimidated about getting involved on the forums. I know I was at first. Something to keep in mind I guess.

From our most recent Pub Server session... I think I'll just let this one explain itself.

This was the most moto-boner inducing gun run I have ever seen. RIP Russkie motor-pool. @1st Lt Pepperman -
Really? I thought it was this guy.

I play milsim because it's simply the most effective, and usually the most fun way to play a realistic FPS. I enjoy realistic gameplay in just about everything (RPGs, FPS, Roguelikes), so having a more realistic common mindset is appealing. I don't necessarily like milsim because its closer to the "real thing", I just don't enjoy the screechfest that is non-milsim Arma gameplay. Arma, because it is the most versatile milsim platform there is. I think some games are more immersive/realistic (namely Squad) but they don't have even half the utility that Arma does. Despite the problems Arma has, there's nothing else like it. And I chose the 3d because noone else does it better, period. Every other milsim unit I've ever been in either tries too hard and just ends up not being fun, or just doesn't know what they're doing. The 3d has managed to be both effective in game as well as fun and full of friendly people. Basically, we manage to separate in and out of game decorum, which not a lot of units do well, I think.

I see that even the Russians can't evade the grasp of the PT belt. Albeit, theirs is just an arm band, they're not nearly as safe from (not) being shot.

I'm just starting the process of enlisting in the Army. Going for 11B w/ Airborne ('cause who needs knees?), but it's too early to say for sure. Currently though, I occasionally get to contract work with my step-dad at a company that builds pump skids. I honestly couldn't tell you how they work, I just do the basic work: spray painting, connecting pipes, sorting parts, heavy lifting, moving stuff with the crane, etc. The works fun, but it's in a metal warehouse in SE Texas with no AC, meaning it's often upwards of 100 degrees (highest internal temp I've seen was 112). It's great work though, makes me feel like I'm actually earning the money and not just being given it because I legally have to be. And I've only thrown out my back once.
