  1. I thought I'd let people know about Project Lightning, a collaboration between C&Rsenal and Forgotten Weapons. They're taking an in depth look at the main LMG's of WW1, and its really really cool. Link to the first episode below.

  2. I think both of the above points are very valid, and as always, there's a middle ground which has to be sought. I do, at the end of the day, come here to blow off steam, to relax, and to kill some shit. But I also enjoy the slick, professional way of doing that. I took up a leadership role because I believe in what this unit is, and has the potential to be. I've been in a lot of Milsim units, and I've had 3 of them fold beneath me. I was here for the transition from the 13th to the 3d, though I left before most of the drama which led to this current incarnation. This unit is special. While there are problems, of course there are problems, the level of clarity from CS is frankly unheard of in any other unit I've ever been in. The people here are good people. We have our disagreements, our fights and our conflicts, of course we do, we're human. But I believe in this unit. I think that as long as we keep sending up issues, keep working together, keep being decent human beings, we're miles ahead of the competition. Arma is a game sure, but for a lot of the people here, myself included, its become a part of our routines, an institution in our lives. Lets not let some personality conflicts and differences in opinion screw that up. We've come so damn far, be proud of what we've achieved. We have a ways to go, yes, but it won't get better if we don't make it better. That's my 5 cents.

  3. Since there seems to be some interest, I've added player slots to the main post. I can only really handle one element so 5 players is the most I will take. I'm fine with less, but I won't go higher.

I've been wanting to host a game of traveller for the 3d for a while, and I just got my hands on the 2300AD setting, a gritty, fairly realistic take on the future of humanity. Its a game about people, and about how they grow as people, not as stats on a page (though those exist too). Its a fairly simple system on the players end, utilizing a 2d6 system of checks. This post is to gauge interest, as I don't want to spend hours making a campaign with no people to play it! Below is some flavor text, but essentially, we would be playing as an element from the 3d MRB, sent to the 50th state, Ellis, to counter a resurgent New America.

During the Twilight in the time frame of 2020-2030 there was a limited nuclear exchange between the nuclear powers, though the reasons why are shrouded in mystery. In the aftermath of the nuclear exchange the second American Civil War Broke out between the Military Government, the Civilian Government, and New America, a collection of extremist militias. During this time period, Mexico took advantage of the collapse of american government to seize New Mexico, Texas, Southern California, and Southern Arizona. After the victory of the Civilian Government in the civil war decades later, the newly re-united America offered support to Texas, who in 2100 launched an independence war against Mexico. after more than a year of hard fighting, Texas gained independence. Although offered statehood in 2102, Texas opted to remain independent. New America, thought dead for more than 200 years, has recently been re-emerging in the colonies of the American Arm, especially Ellis, which was granted statehood in 2276 when it reached a population of over 500,000.

    ALCON,

The 3d MRB is deploying to Ellis in 1 week. All Marines will report to Camp Roberts Space Launch Complex 1 with full deployment kit no later than 0600 PST January 7th. The Battalion will board LTS-26 Provider at 0700. The Battalion will be in transit for 68 days before reaching Ellis. All Marines are required to maintain the attached exercise regimen in transit to preserve operational readiness upon arrival.

The 3d is being sent to reinforce the 10th Regiment / 5th Division, the 12th Armor Battalion, and the 8th Artillery Battalion, which operate detached from larger unit structure. There has been a recent upswing of New America activity on Ellis, and the 10th and 12th are not equipped or trained for Counter-Terrorism Operations. The 3d will, after initial familiarization training, be distributed across the colony and provide rapid response against attacks, collect information on New America activity, and stamp them out for good.

    Signed,

    Col. Carina Ibanez
