S-2 hears you, we care - Ground Forces Edition

SSgt, that message is as straight forward as possible. From my participating perspective, all I've seen are missions that seem recylcled, overused, and overly extreme. Kill the redundancies and the repitition. It shouldn't be difficult too understand if you've participated in these latest FTX/Operational Cycles. Again : Change It Up. -

"Command staff has the authority to make a ruling however and when ever it votes, they can modify policy as needed and as they wish or even over rule current policies as desired and if passed by a majority or unanimously." Background : This message was one of the many messages between Major Makowski and I about the result of my Office Hours. To hone in on one particular point of many, I outline in my 12 page defense document that Command Staff disregarded Disciplinary Policy 1-5g : *Note that this document had been sent up the Chain of Command weeks ago, but still hasn't found its way to Command Staff for whatever reason.* 3d Marine Raider Battalion Realism Unit’s Disciplinary Policy 1-5g “When Office hours is requested Command Staff will conduct a formal investigation, by their own hand or by their Officer designee. All persons and circumstances involved in the accused infraction shall be interviewed and evidence collected. Command Staff will be advised of the investigations outcome and shall deliberate appropriate relief of accusation or punishment of the guilty.” As required by the above Disciplinary Policy, Command Staff must interview all persons and circumstances involved, and evidence must be collected against the accused. Quote : "All persons and circumstances involved in the accused infraction shall be interviewed and evidence collected." To conclude, no evidence was accrued against me, nor was I interviewed. Again, both are required to result in an Office Hours. When asked why neither occured, Major Makowski stated : "Regardless, Command staff has the authority to make a ruling however and when ever it votes, they can modify policy as needed and as they wish or even over rule current policies as desired and if passed by a majority or unanimously.. So "you can't prove my guilt" isnt a strong position, this isnt America, this is a gaming community whoms laws and judges are handled by command staff. Im sorry if you dont like that but im just being honest with you. They looked ag the information and made a decision.." According to this quote, Command Staff has complete authority to make whatever decision it wants whenever it wants, and however it wants. Some may argue that Command staff can only overrule policy as needed with vote. But does that vote even matter if Command Staff inherently controls who climbs the unit's hierarchy? By selecting their source of income, they easily control the vote. Relatable to modern politics. Please notice that I am not claiming that Command Staff is corrupt at all. What I am expressing is my thoughts on the subject pertaining to the corruption that can occur with the actions Command Staff is easily able to take. Perhaps checks and balances should be created to ensure that Command Staff doesn't obtain complete control. Perhaps Command Staff should follow their self created guidelines to assist in their own governance. Only my thoughts. V/R LCpl Cooper.

May I respectfully quote you publicly Major, and provide some context?

Capt Hart, I mean to be completely sincere in the text following this, and do not mean any disrespect at all. It had been brought to my attention recently by a member of Command Staff that they hold authority to not follow rules and articles that govern this 3d Marine Raider Battalion Realism Unit; of which rules and articles Command Staff had appointed. This essentially means that Command Staff is allowed to disregard policy on a case by case basis, which is easily synonymous with corruption and communism. Is there any way that I am perceiving this source wrong? If that is true, which I would not be surprised, would it be reasonable to question why all these rules and articles exist if Command Staff reserves every right to disregard them? Considering that those guidelines are made mostly to regulate Command Staff? So a near dictorial decision as Drumheller's does not occur again? Very Respectfully, LCpl Cooper

From a JTAC perspective, I definitely feel that our Aviation is not being used to its full potential. However, it is in my divine belief that the full utilization of our Aviation depends on the Ground Force Commander. Team Leaders get the only authoritative say on whether kinetic strikes can or cannot occur. It is important to note that it is not the fault of the JTAC for using y'all as a "$18.1mil UAV camera." We'd rather continue to do that than keep you grounded without any action. As debatable as that is, at least this we know is true : The 3d Marine Raider Battalion is an 'unconventional unit.' In my opinion, Aviation is not utilized not only because of the lack of kinetic approvals; but the lack of conventional forces to engage with. I feel that an increase of conventional forces in regards to OPFOR will not only be a healthy change of pace from the standard COIN style, but will allow more of a dependence on Air>Ground. V/R
