Sergeant, I don't think a poll is appropriate. This is a thread for discussion, if Command wants a poll I'm sure they will solicit one. -

I have a unique perspective where until a week or two ago I have pretty much Zeused every mission but my own since September. I've also been a CSO, Element Leader, Team Chief and now Team Leader. As S-2 OIC: I see people doing stupid shit all the time. Bad tactics, bad coverage, real simple stuff. Biggest advice: slow down. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. When I see stupid things, I sort of see the reason why having things like more realistic damage and more punishing medical systems is good. If you don't have a punishment for doing stupid shit, what's stopping you? If Zeuses were out to punish and truly win, we'd be able to absolutely fuck up a lot of task forces. As Team Leader (and compiling my experience on every level of ground): It's very easy for me, Company and so on to watch from the back of the formation (or even better, Zeus) and say "C'mon guys, lock this shit up and don't get shot", when obviously the truth is much more grey than that. Harsh stamina and medical systems I found to be more aggravating than encouraging. I've said before in similar threads that I'm here for realism in tactics and procedures, not for realism in gameplay consequences. This is still true, but I do see the need for those gameplay consequences on a fundamental level. Combining my thoughts from above with this, I think instead of pursuing this level of technical punishment, we should be pushing ourselves at every level of leadership to be better at tactics and procedures, which is what we're all actually here for. If Battalion, Company, Team HQs and Element Leaders can't slow down and iron out the basics to the intermediate, we have bigger problems than harsher consequences can fix. Carrot before the stick in this case. On CASEVACs Really cool for JTACs, pilots, flight medics. Really sucks if you're a CSO who flashed themselves and took a rifle round because a door was open on your screen but wasn't actually in game logic. Very few people on ground want to be told "oh yeah you're technically good but we're flying you back to base for immersion". Frankly we take too many casualties and our air-ground interaction is not at the point where this can be evenhandedly implemented. -

Hey all, I've been thinking lately that we as a community should strive to utilize top level channels like the Game Rooms, Enlisted Club and Officer's Club when we'd normally just chill in a semi-private channel. In my time as S-5 SNCOIC, I noticed a lot of other communities doing this and it seemed to be a healthy thing. It provides three things: 1. Helps new recruits feel less intimidated about getting involved with the community. When I was a boot I definitely wouldn't have randomly joined some MSgt's channel, but if a MSgt was sitting in the E Club with others I wouldn't have fretted over it. 2. Expands your horizons and helps keep inter-team/inter-section cliqueness down by bringing people together. 3. Helps make us looking populated, social and overall healthy as a unit to potential recruits. I'm sure if they start getting a ton of use, Battalion might entertain the idea of dedicated game channels (a Siege channel for instance) or more "chill rooms". I'm not ordering anything, but I'm going to be making a personal effort on my part to get more involved with the wider unit and utilize these channels, and I hope some of you join me. S/F, MSgt Cole

Why milsim?: I enjoy roleplaying and I've always been a military fan. If I didn't have cancer I would have Army ROTC'd through college. I do truly believe that the mindset and intrerpersonal abilities fostered by this unit have already helped me in real life, and I've been surprised by how interested and not "you do what" people have been if I tell them about it. Why Arma?: Only decent combined arms milsim platform (at least in recent years. Squad has potential especially if they add more scripting options or even AI). Why 3d MRB? Wanted to get back into Arma in 2016. Asked Koch about 506th, he said there was drama and to wait. 13th was stood up and I joined there. Stuck around for friends I made in the 13th when we transitioned. I still get a kick out of gameplay (for now, lol), and definitely still trust Koch to right this ship when it needs it.
