So the Finnish Defense Forces just got an order to mobilize. They are calling pretty much the whole reserve into service for a sudden wargame exercise around the eastern border after a flash build-up of russian armed forces along the Finnish border yesterday/last night. I have also been called to service because of the readiness battalion gig. I hope its nothing and we will be back soon, but in case its not, ya'll have a good one. Russian armored and artillery battalions amassing near Ylä-Urpala just 2-3 km from the Finnish south east border.

So just in case it is not clear to everyone yet, this is an april fools prank and russia is not invading europe. Thankyou to the people who figured it out and didnt ruin it for others !

I'm sincerely sorry about that @Sgt Boardman, it was uncalled for and stupid of me to make that post regardless of what anyone said. I hope we can forget about it and be chill.

Seeing that everyone that posted in between the two quotes is staying more or less within the parameters of the first statement made in the thread, i'd say there is no derailment detectable here. Though, if you do not like the conversation being had, i suggest you just do not partake and save yourself the frustration and the trouble. If you do have personal experience of the gear in question and/or some of the issues related to wearing that stuff, i'm sure everyone would like to hear your input.

I think a tube/facecover is one of the most useful fucking pieces of kit there is. Absolute life saver when marching in the winter cos you have to have lighter clothes on upper body so you dont die of heat stroke as youre going, you usually dont have a good high collar though and for that situation the tube is the fucking top shit. In cold weather, just make sure its not a tight knit fabric but that it breathes. Thight knit fabrics gather all the moisture from your breath to freeze on it and thats not nice or sanitary over a long period. During dusty situations its also a fucking must to keep you from inhaling and swallowing an asston of sand. Its also a great idea if youre in a vehicle with no windshield or pulling security up on a turret. Getting those bugs hit you in the face at 80 kph hurts alot more than one might think if you dont have a mask. I rocked the face mask pretty much every exercise i was on during my service for the above reasons and can recommend it. Personally like the german army cotton tube the best but really any breathing wool or cotton or similar works.

Dis a great wan for sneaky squirrel stuff with buddies or alone. The enemy patrols do tend to be out on patrol a bit too conveniently during combat to be believable but its easily avoided with stealth and planning. Snipers work fine for me, just have to do some range testing with the scopes, but when you figure them out you can be accurate as far as you can see. I would not recommend this for a run and gun style of players but that might be cos i suck at running and gunning. Its still definitely more of a coop experience.

good to know. do you know what sort of failures the bushmaster has had with those faulty parts?

iMuy bien!

Pending that everything goes well with the police next week, im looking at getting an ar-15. Bushmaster patrolman's carbine or a stag arms model 2T. I meant that someone would just do em over as long as they think they've got the best score

Like i mentioned in the other post, Im down to attend. Right now i have only access to a pistol but the situation might change by the end of the month. What were you thinking for the deadline for the submission? And how do we know that people are not doing them as many times as it takes to get a good time?

Arma 3 - IDPA / 3-gun style Shooting competition ?
Sgt (Ret) Heikinheimo posted a topic in Tun Tavern
So, as there as there are many shooting enthusiasts like myself in the unit, i figured i'd ask: Is there any interest in doing a friendly timed shooting competition style event for fun in arma 3? I think this could be a fun way to get together and have a bit of fun as well as improve in the shooting department for the functional side of things. Right now im thinking this could be done using our own billet related load outs, or one standardized load out, with 2 guns and standard amount of ammo. Each stage would be timed and hits counted either by falling targets or targets that display scored hits on target. Scoring would be based on time with time added for each missed shot or some similar method. I understand that shooting in arma is extremely easy and it would not be nearly as challenging as real life. I think however that i would be able to make these courses challenging enough to a point where its not just a quick walk through a pipeline and clicking on easy targets. If you have interest in partaking in such an event, please leave a comment & an up vote for this post and i'll know if there is interest. If we get reasonable interest in this, I'll put together like a 4-5 stage competition for a test event and we will see where it goes from there. Also feel free to suggest any rule sets or drills / stage set ups you find would be interesting to shoot or any other thing you think would be cool for this. I'll start working on the stages and make a separate post of the event in the game room if / when we get the attendance confirmed for this. -

I see. If youre willing to organize that, that sounds awesome. Im gonna keep the scope of this one in game, but doing what youre suggesting sounds like alot of fun too.
