BREAKING NEWS: MARINES COME UNDER ARTILLERY FIRE IN OMAN
Globe and Anchor -- 30APR17

IBRI, Oman -- Just past sundown this evening, Omani bases along the Malakabel frontier came under artillery fire from across the border. Omani troops responded with a reciprocal amount of artillery fire, as taught by U.S. and British military advisors. While it’s currently unclear who started the exchange, most fingers point to Malakabel.
As part of this exchange, U.S. Marines, as well as members of the other services, forward staged to bases across the border came under indirect fire. Fortunately, according to USCENTCOM deputy commander LTGEN James Simms, USAF, no casualties are reported at this time.

Marines move to cover after a round of artillery shells strike their firebase.

“It looks like all SOPs and ROEs were followed at this time” said USCENTCOM, “But we have nothing further to report.” The Pentagon deferred all comment to a press conference scheduled for later in the day. The Marines are in the region to dissuade aggression from Malakabel, a small nation wedged between Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, all partners of the U.S. on regional security.
