Subject: NOTICE OF IMMEDIATE DEPLOYMENT

 

 All Commands and Attachments are hereby notified that Alpha Company, 3d MRB (rein);1st BN - 160th SOAR, and all supporting detachments are to prepare for immediate deployment. All commands are to ensure OPSEC through rank and file. 

 

3d MRB, A-Co and attached SOAR assets will immediately redeploy to the USS Arlington LPD-24, currently transiting South from Naval Station Norfolk towards South America, and will standby for possible rescue/combat operations.

 

Briefing to Follow:

 

An American cargo ship, the Illinois Express, is reported to have been hijacked 20 miles from Venezuela while on its way to Aruba, before the transponder signal was shut off.

 

The Country of Venezuela has been undergoing turmoil due to recent economic issues. Riots and protests have occurred, including an incident with the military firing into a crowd of civilians that caused the death or injury of dozens.

USSOUTHCOM is deploying assets to standby for possible operations in the region should the unrest continue to escalate.

 

The Situation is still fluid and talks with the Venezuelan government are ongoing.
