Date/Time: Friday, 21SEP2018 @ 2030ET Map: Da Krong Background: Throughout the Vietnam War, the Laotian-Vietnamese border has been a constant source of supplies for the NVA and VC, with smuggling routes and trails crisscrossing the dense jungle between the two nations. While never officially supporting the Communist North's cause, the Laotian gov't has always been sympathetic to Ho Chi Minh, and has long provided trained fighters and equipment to the beleaguered nation. The US was not blind to this deception, and quickly dispatched a Special Forces group dedicated to eradicating the routes wherever they are found. Under the overall command of MAC-V SOG (Military Assistance Command Vietnam - Special Forces Group), this task force was instrumental in the defence of South Vietnam. In mid-1969, the 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company was assigned to MACV South, placed on a Firebase near the Laos border. Despite great difficulty and constant VC harassment, the Marines were able to embed quickly, performing risky Search and Destroy operations which crippled a portion of the North's supply chain. As such, a target of opportunity has recently surfaced, drawing the attention of MACV South and 3rd Force Recon. One of the main administrators of the supply routes, known by his moniker 'Smiling Lee', has recently surfaced in the AO to attempt to fix the broken supply chains and/or establish new ones. With heavy intelligence support from SOG and the CIA, 'Smiling Lee' was tracked to a compound in the Da Krong River Valley in an area called 'Three Valleys'.
