Russians and US Agree to Ceasefire and Withdrawal in Chernarus Grand Central Times - November 2nd, 2019 In the aftermath of the heavy fighting near the city of Berezino in Chernarus last night, diplomats from the Russian Federation and the United States met Stockholm to hold emergency talks as tensions reached a possible breaking point. The negotiations went long into the night, but reports say both wanted to prevent a full-scale war, and at 6:00 am local time, an agreement was reached. Both the US and Russia have agreed to withdraw all military forces from the territory of Chernarus over the coming week to defuse the crisis that has entered its fourth week and saw its bloodiest points in the conflict over the past few days. Some have put blame for the increase of fighting on the United States’ increased support of the Republic of Chernarus in the past week, while Russia and the DPRC appear to have halted their offensive actions in a failed attempt to consolidate. Pictured: US and Russian diplomats after signing the agreement There have also been indications of a possible purge of members of the Russian military leadership, with several high ranking officers not being present at the Security Council at this week’s meeting. The head of the Chernarussian Front and the Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Gorkov, who had made several public statements in favor of a larger intervention in Chernarus, were not seen at the meeting, with no statement about their absence being made. The Ministry of Defense also denied that heavy fighting had taken place at their airbase north of Berezino, though they did state there had been a large fire at the ammunition bunker on the base, causing severe damage to their facilities there. ***FLASH TRAFFIC*** To All Combatant Commands in Chernarussian Area of Operations ***FLASH TRAFFIC***
Capt Boyle posted a topic in News and Articles
***FLASH TRAFFIC*** ***FLASH TRAFFIC*** ***FLASH TRAFFIC*** Date: Oct. 30th, 2019 FROM: SUPREME ALLIED COMMANDER EUROPE TO: ALL COMBATANT COMMANDS IN THE CHERNARUS AREA OF OPERATIONS Intelligence has determined with a high level of confidence that Russian forces are planning an airborne operation, Codename “Smolensk”, within the coming days. The operation will be aimed against the Chernarussian Defense Force in an attempt to break the morale of the Republic of Chernarus and force them into accepting the secession of the DPRC. It is believed that the Russians intend to avoid engaging US forces and present a fait accompli to all forces involved. Elements of the 6th Guards Airborne Division are likely to be used, as the division has begun assembling at two airfields in Russia, with the suspected lead assault element, the 105th Guards Airborne Regiment, starting to assemble in the Krasnostav Airfield in Chernarus. Also of note, several An-12 “Cub” transport aircraft have seen moving to Krasnostav with modifications to the airframes that make the aircraft appear as NATO C-130 aircraft. It is believed these planes will serve as the spearhead to create disarray behind the frontlines and enable the rest of the airborne forces to seize objectives. CIA and DIA analysts have reached the conclusion that the Russian are pursuing this course of action in an effort to turn the tide of the conflict without risking an escalation with the US. Several sources within Russia have noticed the formation of several factions within the Russian government, namely divided along the lines of those who wish to escalate the conflict, and those who wish to draw down their forces. The latter currently appear to hold more sway, but the former have convinced Russian leadership to attempt this operation. A map of Operation Smolensk has been intercepted by SIGINT and is displayed below, translated by NSA and DIA. Execute an appropriate defensive deployment and begin immediate preparatory actions pursuant the tasks assigned in DODP 1945. Inform subordinate commands at once. A similar warning is being sent by the Department of Defense. Commander USAREUR inform the Chernarussians. All US bases in Europe are directed to take appropriate measures against sabotage. THIS DOCUMENT IS CONSIDERED TS/SCI, UNAUTHORIZED DISSEMINATION OF THIS DOCUMENT IS PUNISHABLE WITH A PRISON SENTENCE OF UP TO 10 YEARS, A LARGE FINE, OR BOTH. Intercepted transmission from Kamensk-Shakhtinsky Military Base to 6th Guards Airborne HQ, 0645, October 30th, 2019 Intercept provided by NSA, translation agreed on by NSA, CIA, and DIA analysts. “Moscow has agreed with the General, Operation Smolensk is authorized. You have three days, and Nicolas will be waiting for you in the Palace. Good luck Vasily” - Believed to be General Nikolyai Sharopov, commander of the 6th Guards Airborne Division. “Thank you, we will succeed comrade.” - Believed to be Colonel Vasily Chukov, commander of the 105th Guards airborne regiment, 6th Guards Airborne. Objectives of Operation “Smolensk” are unknown at this time. The reference to “Nicolas” is similarly undetermined, however the “Palace” has been referenced in other intercepts relating to the Krasnostav Airfield in Northwest Chernarus. Colonel Chukov has been involved in several of Russia’s more daring operations, including a commando raid on Georgian command and control bunkers in the Russo-Georgian war of 2008 and several clandestine operations in Ukraine. He and his unit were also among the first Russian units to enter Chernarus, but have largely been inactive during the ongoing crisis since then. The 105th Guards is well equipped and trained, with most of their unit currently stationed just across the border. SIGINT and GEOINT have determined that at least one platoon from this unit is deployed at the Krasnostav Airfield for the duration of this conflict. From: National Security Agency -

Terrorist Attacks Against Russian Peacekeepers Escalating in Chernarus Soyuz News - October 29th, 2019 A pair of bombs were detonated in the DPRC town of Berezino yesterday as a convoy of Russian troops drove by on their way to support the defense of Elektrozavodsk. The attack killed several of the soldiers, as well as at least a dozen civilians who were nearby, Soyuz News has confirmed. The Chernarussian Liberation Front, an insurgent terrorist group that aims to force the DPRC into reuniting with the Republic of Chernarus, has claimed credit for the bombing, though they deny that civilians were killed, saying they only pursue military targets. This is just the latest in a string of attacks by the CLF across the DPRC, which according to officials there, have claimed at least 300 lives, most of them civilians. An estimated 58 of those are Russian peacekeepers, though the government has declined to comment on specific casualties. Pictured: Aftermath of Berezino attack President Antonov has issued a statement condemning these attacks, which he says might be supported from the other side of the border, though he did not specify if he believed that meant the CDF was supporting the CLF, or possibly NATO. He has also renewed his calls for the UN to step in and provide peacekeepers, rather than risking tensions with NATO, who refuses to accept a diplomatic solution to the ongoing crisis. Fighting Reported Near US Base in Chernarus - ADA News - October 26th, 2019

Fighting Reported Near US Base in Chernarus ADA News - October 26th, 2019 Sporadic fighting was heard in the area around Vybor Air Base yesterday, with reports of a Chernarussian helicopter being shot down being confirmed by the CDF. The CDF spokesperson, Captain Nicolai Vashanko, told gathered reporters that one of their Mi-8 transport helicopters had been downed by a shoulder-launched Surface-to-Air Missile as it transited from the air base to Chernagorsk, but also said that US patrols had defeated the insurgents. Several of the launchers were seized, and Capt. Vashanko stated they had not come from any of the CDF stockpiles, though he did not answer further questions about their origins. Several analysts have speculated that these launchers may have come from Russia Pictured: Captain Vashanko and members of the media examining captured launchers There was also limited looting in the town of Lopatino that occurred as CDF forces and police units were called away to deal with insurgents. It appears several of the local criminals took advantage of the lack of authority to seize medical supplies in the town and flee the town. They were unable to succeed, however, as several American units who had been patrolling for the insurgents stumbled upon them, resulting in two of the looters being killed and another 4 arrested. The Chernarussian government has stated that they have restored order to the area, and promised that even during times of war, the rule of law will be followed. By Arthur Currie ADA News -
Heavy Fighting Reported Near Chernarussian Capital - Soyuz News - October 22nd, 2019

Heavy Fighting Reported Near Chernarussian Capital Soyuz News - October 22nd, 2019 Reports of heavy fighting were confirmed by Soyuz News today, along with heavy losses on both sides. It is unclear as to who started the fighting, but what was believed to be a skirmish between Chernarussian forces escalated when American troops engaged in the fighting as well. Russian peacekeepers in the area were unwilling to risk further raising tensions in the region communicated to the Americans through the de-escalation hotline that they would not retaliate, but that any further hostilities would be met in kind. It appears that this was enough to halt their aggression, as the fighting died down shortly afterwards. Pictured: Aftermath of fighting near Elektrozadsk A DPRC spokesman has stated that approximately 30 soldiers were killed on their side, with another 57 wounded. The CDF claimed that only 10 of their troops were wounded, though credible sources have put their losses at over 50. There is no word from the American government on whether their troops were also injured in combat, but the recent tensions has seen a limiting in the Moore Administration’s willingness to share. After the provocation by American fighter jets last week, the eyes of the world have focused on the small nation, which has only made the recent fighting all the more worrying. Calls for retaliation have been heard on both sides, but as of yet it appears neither Russia nor the US is willing to start a shooting war.Heavy Fighting Reported Near Chernarussian Capital Attempting to somewhat defuse the current crisis, Russia again renewed its calls for a UN Peacekeeping force to take over duties in the region, but was again stifled by a joint American and British Veto at the Security Council. President Konanov has stated he is more than willing to resolve the issue of the two Chernarussian states’ legitimacy, but he has yet to hear a satisfactory assurance from the Moore Administration that the DPRC would be permitted to peacefully secede if it chose to. Five US Soldiers Confirmed Dead in Chernarus - Grand Central Times - October 14th, 2019

Five US Soldiers Confirmed Dead in Chernarus Grand Central Times - October 14th, 2019 The Pentagon confirmed the deaths of five American Special Forces soldiers in Chernarus last week along with the loss of two helicopters in fighting. While military officials stated they would not be revealing the names of those lost at this time, the deaths help underscore the seriousness of the current situation in the region. The brief fighting that occurred in the aftermath of the Red Guard coup, who now have stylized themselves as the Democratic People’s Republic of Chernarus, was very bloody for both sides. Early reports from the ground indicated that at least 240 Loyalist Chernarussian soldiers died in the fighting, with that number expected to rise as the military reorganizes itself. Losses on the side of the DPRC are also believed to be high, but the provisional government in Elektrozavodsk has yet to release any official information. Approximately 60 civilians have died, though that number is disputed by the two Chernarussian states, as well as who is to blame for those casualties. Pictured: Downed American UH-60 in Chernarus, just North of Grishino The deployment of troops to Chernarus has been highly controversial in the United States, with members of both parties raising objections. But the loss of American lives in what is reported to be in the defense of retreating CDF troops has stirred outrage against the Red Guard in the US. A bill to equip the CDF with more advanced equipment is currently under consideration in the House, with several sources in the Moore administration saying the President is looking to support any bill that could help the beleaguered CDF. This comes as the elements of the 4th Infantry Division are reported to have begun replacing Loyalist troops on the front lines, which while currently static, are now a global hotspot. Pictured: Declassified satellite image of Russian forces crossing the Chernarussian border The Russian intervention into the country has further muddied the waters, and heightened tensions between the two rival superpowers. Sources within the Defense Department and NATO have both confirmed that at least four Russian divisions have entered the small Eastern European country. Satellite imagery released by DoD reportedly showed several elements of the Russian Army moving through the DPRC towards the front lines as American troops began to deploy there. There are attempts by diplomats on both sides to ratchet down the tension, but some worry that a confrontation is becoming harder to avoid by the day. By Tasker Bliss Grand Central Times -

Yes. Or more accurately, the author had no clue who the dead were or what branch they were in, so they wrote "soldiers". I'm dumb, but I'm not that dumb. Probably. -
Russian Peacekeepers Move to Protect Ethnic Russians in DPRC From NATO - Soyuz News - October 12, 2019
Capt Boyle posted a topic in News and Articles
Russian Peacekeepers Move to Protect Ethnic Russians in DPRC From NATO Soyuz News - October 12, 2019 At the behest of the newly formed Democratic People’s Republic of Chernarus, President Antonov ordered elements of the Russian Ground Force to move into their territory to act as peacekeepers in the face of the advancing NATO and CDF troops threatening to crush the new state. It appears that the fear of running into Russian forces led to a halting of their offensive, and the front lines have become a quasi-border, though there are reports of occasional skirmishes between CDF and DPRC troops. NATO has begun pouring reinforcements into the region to prop up their puppet President Konanov, with at least two divisions having begun moving into the former Soviet State, with some American Special Forces already being present. The latter are also reported to have begun aiding the Konanov regime in the illegal arrests of several prominent ethnic Russians. There has been widespread outrage across Russia at these reports, with a recent anti-NATO march in Moscow numbering in the hundreds of thousands. This peacekeeping mission comes one day after Foreign Minister Konev attempted to provide at least some hope of a peaceful resolution to the issue, by leading the Russian delegation to put forward a motion to the Security Council calling for a United Nations Peacekeeping force to be deployed to Chernarus. Unsurprisingly, it was vetoed by the American and British delegations over the protests of several other Security Council members, some of whom are already discussing leveling sanctions against these aggressive actions. After the vote, Minister Konev stated “It seems that NATO and the United States have once again decided that might makes right, and have abandoned all pretense of promoting democracy, choosing to silence those who resist their world view with force.” Since the DPRC declared their independence from Chernarus, there has been limited international recognition as few countries are willing to risk the West's ire, but Russian and her allies are willing to step up to aid the small nation on the international stage. Pictured: Russian peacekeepers moving towards the front lines through the town of Krasnostav Back in Chernarus, the situation appears to be stabilizing, at least in the Eastern half of the country, as Russian peacekeepers advance to the front lines. With few non-Western reporters allowed into the Republic of Chernarus, unbiased information is hard to come by, but Soyuz reporters were able to speak with those in the DPRC who were unafraid to state their beliefs now that Russian forces were shielding them from vengeful Chernarussian Internal Security Service (CISS) thugs. Osokin Valeryevich, a manager for a truck factory in the coastal city of Berezino, told Soyuz that he had feared for his and his family’s safety when the crackdown began. “Day after day, you saw more and more Russians rounded up by the police or the military,” he said, “and I would worry that tomorrow, it will be me or one of my daughters, because we speak out against Konanov.” When asked what he thought of the NATO deployment to his country, Osokin responded that “the Americans were just here to line their pockets, they do not give a damn about the people. But Russia? She actually cares about us.” Closer to the border, the people are anxious but celebrating the situation. Sergeyeva Mikhailovna, the wife of a farmer near Krasnostav, thanked Russia for coming to their aid. “We used to see Konanov’s men everyday, ready to arrest any of us who wanted real democracy,” she said as she waved to a passing convoy of Russian peacekeepers, “Now all you see are our liberators! They were going to turn our home into a war zone, and we can’t thank you enough for stopping them.” By Aleksei Brusilov Soyuz News -

Unrest in Chernarus, American Involvement Suspected - Soyuz News - October 1st, 2019
Capt Boyle posted a topic in News and Articles
Unrest in Chernarus, American Involvement Suspected Soyuz News - October 1st, 2019 Reports of fighting in the Autonomous Oblast of Podagorsk today were confirmed by Soyuz News, as well as a series of sporadic incidents in the eastern region of Chernarus involving the Chernarussian Defense Force. The so-called “Red Guard” is believed to be the source of much of the violence, which is believed to have claimed at least 30 lives in Podagorsk alone. The reports of fighting in the rest of Chernarus are being downplayed by the government in Chernogorsk, with the Konanov government refusing to release any causality figures. Sources within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are also concerned of possible American involvement in the area, along with the fleet of warships the United States has stationed off the Podagorsk coast. The current incarnation of Red Guard, the terrorist organization that is believed to be involved in the fighting, is a far-right ultranationalist group that appears to have little issue with indiscriminate attacks on the civilian population of the region. This is a far-cry from the previous group that operated under the name, which was a socialist resistance movement attempting to restore democracy to the region, before being crushed by CDF and NATO forces in 2016. The sudden appearance and violent nature of this group has led many to question its origins, and whether it has foreign backers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated they have begun an investigation into this new Red Guard, but the FSB might be ahead of their colleagues at Smolenskaya-Sennaya Square. An unnamed senior source in the FSB has told Soyuz that they have been tracking suspicious movements of American Special Forces in the area, as well as possible CIA agents making contacts with local residents and offering bribes to report disinformation. The same source also said there were concerns about American forces attempting to establish the Red Guard as part of a false-flag operation as an excuse to become more involved in the region. Pictured: Social Media post of smoke rising over Podagorsk after fighting Soyuz News has made repeated attempts to interview officials of the Konanov government to get answers about the current crisis, but each attempt has been flatly rejected. Instead, our reporters met with locals in Podagorsk to uncover what has been occurring. Sharapov Georgiy, a member of the town council of Protvino, told us that shortly after the fighting began, he saw several helicopters flying in the area, one of which he firmly identified as American. “You could hardly miss it,” he said describing the helicopter, “it was the size of a bus!” Sharapov also said he saw it come from the direction of several loud explosions before it continued towards the sea. The true involvement of America in this crisis is not known at this point, but suffice to say it is far more than the simple “investigation” of the attack on their official that the Moore government has been claiming. Under Secretary of State Wounded In Podagorsk - Grand Central Times - September 29th, 2019
Capt Boyle posted a topic in News and Articles
Under Secretary of State Wounded In Podagorsk Grand Central Times - September 29th 2019 Alexander Rodriguez, the Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs, was severely wounded in a roadside bombing today that killed four others, including two Americans who were members of his staff. The Under Secretary and his entourage were in a convoy driving through the Autonomous Oblast of Podagorsk, with an escort of Chernarussian Defense Force vehicles, in an unannounced visit to the region. The Under Secretary had reportedly made this visit in the hopes of assessing the Eastern European Region, following concerns of instability due to recent events. As the convoy was passing the town of Kovrov, an improvised explosive device went off under the lead CDF vehicle and sent the American vehicle careening off the road and into the nearby forest. Two members of the Under Secretary's staff, whom the State Department has not yet named, reportedly died in the crash, while the Under Secretary and another three staff members are in critical condition. The CDF has also reported two dead and another five wounded. Pictured: Under Secretary's car and burning escort near the town of Kovrov The instability within Podagorsk began last month after the death of Governor Pyotr Chigorin, who was widely seen as the unifying figure in the region. Chigorin was the former Chairman of the Podagorski Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, and he led the region through the break-up of the Soviet Union and its shaky transition to democracy. His leadership is viewed by many as the sole reason the region didn’t descend into ethnic fighting in the early 1990’s, with his stewardship leading the country to see economic growth in a time when most Eastern European states were suffering from drastic economic hardships. His decision to align with the then-newly independent state of Chernarus over the Russian Federation was controversial, but deemed necessary to maintain some sense of stability, though he did maintain closer contact with Russia than some in the Chernarussian government reportedly preferred. Due to his popular record, he was elected Governor four consecutive times, with the last one being a mere six months before his fatal heart attack at age 78. However, with his death, the reins of the oblast fell to his successor, Nickolai Ivanovich. Pictured: Kovrov Cemetary in 2016 during the dedication of the Red Hammer Memorial Monument Ivanovich is largely seen as an official appointed to appease those who wished for closer ties with Chernarus, an opinion that is not particularly popular in the largely ethnic Russian region. Early policy ideas from the new governor included an increase in tariffs on Russian goods and more stringent travel restrictions. As a result, protests quickly popped up, including in Berzeniki, which have become increasingly violent in the past two weeks. At least twenty-six were reported killed in days leading up to today’s attack, with several of them being police and CDF troops. Due to the severity of these protest and the recent bombing, some have begun to speculate that the instability is the result of a resurgent Red Guard, an ultra-nationalist terrorist group that was heavily involved in the 2015 fight for Chernarus and Podagorsk. There is however no solid evidence of this group making a return, particularly after their leader Gleb Zakharovich was killed during the "Second Battle of Berezhino" in early 2016. While no group has claimed credit for the bombing against the Under Secretary, many observers of the region have been quick to point the finger at the Red Guard, regardless of the available facts, due to the historic lack of other major terrorist organizations in the region.
