Mutiny Strikes Malian Army
ADA News - Sept. 10th, 2020
After three months of negotiations between the soldiers of the 56th Infantry Regiment and the government that failed to resolve the dispute over the unit being stood down due to budget cuts, the soldiers mutinied and have taken over their base in Sévaré. While the troops have not conducted any violent acts, Malian President Birama Kondo has declared that the mutiny is an act of open rebellion. In a statement to the Associated Press, Mr. Kondo said that the mutineers were “merely coup plotters who have yet to act against the capital.” He continued, stating that as a preemptive measure to prevent “further seditious acts”, all Malian military personnel in the Northern half of the country are being confined to barracks for the foreseeable future.

Some have questioned this decision while the region is facing sustained security threats from terrorist groups and unstable neighbors. A spokesperson for the Malian Army dismissed those claims, saying that the remaining Malian forces were more than capable of dealing with any additional threats while the crisis is resolved.

The Chimera broke through the Siegfried Line last night. The German and French troops to our East there were wiped out, or worse, converted. The British are trying to set up a defensive line to the South, but we’ll need to fight our way to them. We can’t expect any support, but hopefully the Chimera will be too busy to deal with us directly. Can’t promise the infected won’t show up though. If we run into trouble, make your shots count, we’ve only got what we brought with us.

In support of the larger Operation Market Garden, we will be dropping three clicks north of the rest of the 82nd to seize the crossroads of Orglandes to ensure the British armor has a path to Arnhem. Resistance should be light, intelligence has only detected a few small garrisons in the area and those are mostly made up of reservists. Site-14 was being used to contain several anomalies and had MTF Theta-54 “Palace Guardians” on standby to handle any containment breaches as well as a 750 kiloton nuclear warhead on-site in the event of an uncontrollable containment breach. Unfortunately, something appears to have gone wrong. There was an initial alert that several containment measures were failing, followed by a complete system failure across the site before all communication ceased. Operation Gothic Serpent: The year is 1993, and the US has deployed elements of Delta Force and the 75th Rangers to help the UN secure the city of Mogadishu, Somalia. But the Somali National Alliance is putting up stiff resistance. Command thinks if the Rangers insert by helo, they can capture several of the SNA leadership unaware. As Delta, we will be on standby outside of the city as a QRF.

HUMINT and OSINT have confirmed that Colonel El Hadj Ghaly, aka "Attila", has conducted a public execution of three of the recent POWs US forces have turned over to his custody in the region. There are several indications that at least two of those executed were tortured before their deaths. Leadership in Ouagadougou is officially unaware of the actions occurring in Kujari at the hands of Ghaly, but private discussions with HUMINT sources there have determined that a sizable portion of the military leadership is aware of these acts and are giving tacit, and in some cases, overt support. The civilian leadership is also aware, however, most consider Ghaly's actions justified or a harsh necessity. The minority who object to them are without significant influence and are unlikely to take any action regarding them. There is a growing sense from lower-ranking sources that Ghaly has been granted free reign so long as Lingani, aka "Uldin", is defeated before he gains too much legitimacy in the eyes of the people.
Recommendations: Conduct proper interrogations of POWs before handing them over to Ghaly if possible. Ghaly is unlikely to be receptive to the questioning of his methods well and may withhold cooperation if pressed on the subject.
