S-2 hears you, we care - Ground Forces Edition
Capt (Ret) Koch replied to Capt (Ret) Hito's topic in Tun Tavern
From the perspective of someone that was in charge of things here, just wanted to add something. Lots of the wishes and suggestions I see now are a stark contrast to what people wanted in the past, so not sure what changed. Reports and things I heard in the past were: not enough to shoot at, not enough action, failing was not fun, intel gathering is not fun Am glad that seems to be changing now and people want to take the unit in a new direction. Just wanted to add that little tidbit; I did want to move the unit in this direction, but I was afraid of a backlash. Glad to see Hito doing this thread, too. Gonna keep an eye on it and see what happens, I still consider 3d the child I willingly gave away full custody of. Rock on, friends -
this is the most cancerous video version i found happy bday

I can't edit, but with the above said, I hope everyone has fun here or elsewhere. If what happens at this Unit is what you like; even better for you, you've found a place you enjoy.
-
I'd just like to add: I think it's unfair to argue that anyone who doesn't like how things are run are in 'violation' (it's early, excuse the somewhat harsh word) of the realism definition of the Unit. There is nothing saying that playing in a realism environment in ArmA, with realistic Unit policies, equates to killing fun by grading everyone; or coaching everyone on a constant basis. Leadership, and general enlisted member burnout is very real because of decisions made at Command level. All I'm saying is that at some point the Command needs to make a decision on whether they want to prioritise fun in a realistic environment like I tried to preach a few times, or whether they want to slowly strangle the unit with misguided decisions. I'm not saying the FTX should be cancelled or modified as is, but some reconsideration should be made in regards to how you view the Unit. This is a hobby, this is the internet, this is a game -- it's about time it's treated as such here, too, in my opinion. Note: I'm not going to add much more, everyone so far has made valid points, I'm not here to belittle the work of anyone; just stating that someone should have thought twice before they started wanting to grade a gaming unit for performance -- even if it's a realism unit.

can confirm this, we've been purging Stylish from 20k computers at work as if it were the plague -
Just as a note: we've already actually had CYFOR in Norway for quite some time; Their uniforms are not far from what Cole imagined, either. I think any serious military should consider having this branch. They specialise in using technical equipment, portable UAVs/drones and the likes, as well as "digital border defence," which is integral to the protection of any country nowadays.

Server is up! Nothing much has happened on it yet. You need "FTB Revelation" to play on it -- you can find launcher alternatives here: https://www.feed-the-beast.com/ I use Curse myself and recommend it if you have a Curse account. If you don't, you can use the old legacy clients that don't require you to make a new user. IP: 89.34.97.147 Enjoy!
-
also I'd edit the main post but I don't have edit permissions, can someone who can edit posts replace the IP and change "FTB Infinity Lite" to "FTB Revelation"
-
I finally got my server up again, this time running FTB Revelation, same launcher etc. There's teams on the server 89.34.97.147 is the new IP if anyone happens to be interested, there's a long bridge leading you to the closest mainland because we spawn on an island
