Rebels in Burkina Faso pose next to alleged US Helicopter wreck

Images of heavily armed rebel fighters posing in front of a wreck alleged to be a US Army MH-60, more commonly known as a “Blackhawk” helicopter, have been making the rounds in the shadier parts of social media the past few days. The picture was first posted on Twitter by a person claiming to be affiliated with the African terrorist organisation Boko Haram, stating that the picture was taken on the 23rd of April.

While the wreck in the image resembles the aircraft in question the wreck is too badly damaged to confirm beyond reasonable doubt. The Pentagon has declined to comment on the possibility of American forces being present in Burkina Faso at this time.

This image has been circulating among a number of Twitter accounts known to be linked to terrorist organisations in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Regardless of the validity of the picture, Burkina Faso remains a wartorn country with the national government retaining little to no control over large areas of the country where various warlords and terrorist organisations flourish.
