Capt Boyle Posted May 24, 2023 WARNING ORDER MSOT 8311 1. SITUATION. a. Overview: Venezuelan forces have seized control of the island of San Esperito and are fortifying their positions before the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit arrives in force. They are concentrating the forces in the two major cities and are working to solidify their control over the island. We are conducting operations to undermine the Venezuelan influence and control over the island. b. The Area of Interest is the center of the island. c. Area of Operations is AO MAINE. The terrain is small mountains, swamps, dense jungles, and urban areas. Weather is expected to be overcast with a low chance of rain. The time will be 0520 on the 18th of September. d. Enemy Forces. Venezuelan 3rd Marine Brigade is attempting to fortify its positions and bring longer-range defenses to the island and bring those already there online. We have reliable intelligence that the battalion commanders of the 31st and 32nd Marine Battalions are meeting at a fortified position on the North side of the island in a fortified position. Mechanized, motorized, light naval, and airmobile forces have been seen in the AO, as well as light attack aircraft masquerading as civilians. e. Friendly Forces There are no friendly forces currently in the AO f. Attachments and Detachments 160th SOAR USS Farragut 2. MISSION. Alpha Company (WHO) is attempting to degrade Venezuelan forces (WHAT) in AO MAINE (WHERE) in preparation for the 24th MEU’s landings (WHY). 3. EXECUTION. a. Concept of Operations. MSOT 8311 is tasked with crippling the command structure of the Venezuelans prior to the 24th MEU beginning their amphibious landings. The position is an old fortified installation from WW2 and may withstand bombardments with currently available assets. A ground team will need to go in and ensure the targets are eliminated. The storm that had limited ISR is clearing up, but we are waiting on the Global Hawk to get back on station. Additional tasking will be given in-field as determined as needed by Roundtable. Supply: Rearm will be from USS Farragut or delivered by the 160th. b. Health System Support Medical Treatment Casualties shall be treated by self-aid, then Corpsman support in the field.
