Capt Hart Posted April 23, 2024 WARNING ORDER MSOT 8311 LEGION, 160th SOAR 28APR24 SITUATION 3d MRB is participating in training exercises with the 13th MEU (SOC) to improve amphibious capabilities when conducting littoral operations against a conventional opponent. This operation intends to assess the ability of the MSOT to conduct operations while outnumbered behind enemy lines in complex and heavily contested areas. ENEMY: A Russian Battalion Tactical Group (BTG) consisting of Mechanized Infantry, reinforced by Light Infantry and Armor, is holding the SE Island of Tanoa. FRIENDLY: 3d MRB will assist the 13th MEU in conducting an amphibious landing of the SE Tanoan island staging from the SW island. MISSION MSOT 8311 Legion will conduct a raid on the Northern coast of the Island IOT 1. Destroy the Tunguska defending the Northern side of the AO 2. Destroy the BTR-80A defending the town of Losi 2. Reduce the number of defenders in the AO 3. Force the enemy to reposition units from elsewhere in the AO 160th SOAR will conduct an aerial raid in the vicinity of (IVO) the towns of Moddergat, Tobakoro and La Foa IOT 1. Destroy the 2S1 Battery stationed in Moddergat 2. Reduce the number of Mechanized and Armored assets defending the NW coast of the island 3. Disrupt or destroy enemy HQ / Command and control to the West. ONCE COMPLETE MSOT 8311 Legion supported by the 160th SOAR will then conduct a raid on the Howitzer Platoon & 2S1 Battery located in the center of the island IOT 1. Destroy OPFOR Indirect-Fire capabilities RECONNAISSANCE The reconnaissance picture is provided using full spectrum intelligence analysis relying most heavily on SIGINT, and HUMINT, in the form of 13th MEU Force Reconnaissance Elements. Insertion and actions on target must be conducted organically by both 8311 and 160th SOAR. Plan so that the first objective takes no more than 1 hour. UAVs are not permitted for this cycle of the FTX IOT provide similar assessment criteria across all 3 MSOTs.
