    Uprising in Iran results in Kurdish statehood.

     

    Ever since the uprising began in late 2019 following Iran’s bungled response to American military action in the Straits of  Hormuz the Ayatollah has struggled to regain control of the Kurdish dominated borderlands with Iraq and Turkey. Multiple attempts to regain control via military force have failed as the Kurdish rebels are firmly entrenched in the westernmost provinces of Iran and hold significant stockpiles of advanced weapons allegedly provided by NATO in an effort to further weaken Iran. Regardless of foreign aid or not the Kurds seem like they are here to stay. A spokesperson from the “Provisional Republic of Kurdistan” has approached Iraqi and US governments with the proposal of uniting Iranian and Iraqi Kurdistan into a coherent Kurdish state. Given the Iraqi Kurds already extensive autonomy the US Government has urged their Iraqi counterparts to accept the proposal resulting in the establishment of the Republic of Kurdistan last week.

    Bringing together the war-torn territory of the new nation falls initially to president appointee Berewan Romet. In accordance with the Treaty of Mosul establishing Kurdistan he is to rule the country for a period of 2 years as a functional apparatus of state is set up. After this initial period open elections are to be held every 4 years. The status of the Kurdish minorities in Syria and Turkey are expected to become hotly debated topics given Syria's and Turkeys refusal to participate in the Kurdish nationbuilding. For now however Iranian and Iraqi Kurdistan are being united with the Turkish and Syrian Kurds being left out. Some talks about the possibility of a population transfer has been brought up but has yet to manifest in anything substantial.

     

    As was expected the Ayatollah in Tehran has condemned this step describing it as "Another American imperialist venture" and "An attempt to utterly dismantle the Islamic Republic of Iran". However with ever growing dissent at home and multiple military setbacks against the Kurds there seems to be very little Iran is capable of doing to prevent this redrawing of the borders in the Middle East.

    Do we have M995 "blacktip" in our regular arsenal? Also using it against unarmored targets would cause the bullet to zip right through the body without doing its usual tumbling and fragmenting. Thus doing less damage but I dont think ARMA simulates that.

    CDF moves in as Russian forces withdraw from Chernarus conflict

     

    It was a scene of jubilation and flag waving as CDF forces marched into the port city of Berezino this morning following the completed withdrawal of Russian Forces from the city. The city has been under Russian occupation since the 12th of October when Russian forces moved into the DPRC controlled areas of Chernarus alledgedly for "peacekeeping" reasons. This occupation now comes to an end with the “Stockholm Accord” signed on the 31st Oct. The Accord detailed both Russian an NATO withdrawal from the country in an effort to bring an end to one of the hottest flashpoints since the end of the Cold War. According to the treaty Russian forces were to be withdrawn from the city by 07:59 on the 4th of November with CDF troops permitted to enter at 08:01 that same morning. These times were kept nearly to the second as the last Russian cargo vessel was still making its way out of the port facility at Berezino when CDF troops entered the city's Southern outskirts.

    The CDF troopers entering the city were met with a jubilant crowd and Chernarussian flags flown from every window in sight. While the Russian occupation had by all accounts been conducted in an organized manner the unruly and illegitimate DPRC did not endear themselves to the poulation through their looting of stores and other businessess in the city. No reports of any fighting with DPRC holdouts have been reported from Berezino. However some scattered fighting was reported from the towns of Dolina, Pusta and Mista. No casualties were reported and several inhabitants interviewed stated that many of the rebels had fled inland to the forests and hills, it remains to be seen if these rebels will take to insurgency in the coming weeks.

    Minsk II ceasefire breaks down.
    Ukrainian army launches full scale attack on separatist territory.

     

    The so called “War in Donbass” is a military conflict that has been raging in the easternmost parts of Ukraine ever since the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014. The war is centered mostly on the Eastern oblasts of Donetsk and Luhansk which both boasts large quantities of ethnic Russians. Many of whom wish to see a closer union with Russia rather than Ukraine. Following the Crimean declaration of independence during the Ukrainian revolution in 2014 and its subsequent annexation into the Russian Federation pro russian insurgents in many cities across eastern Ukraine staged uprisings, securing local government buildings, police station and even military facilities.

     

    The Ukrainian government labeled these actions “acts of terrorism" and promptly launched anti-terror operations against the insurgents. Results were mixed as Ukrainian government forces retook some cities seized by the insurgents such as Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Horlivka. However many smaller cities remained firmly in insurgent hands and faced with large scale pro Russian uprisings, riots and demonstrations the Ukrainian forces were forced to a stalemate. With further operations commencing in the early summer of 2014 fighting escalated with large scale artillery bombardments and airstrikes becoming more and more common.

     

    The gains made by the Ukrainian government prompted Russian intervention and large numbers of Russian troops and armored vehicles crossed the Ukrainian border at crossing points captured by the insurgents. This escalation continued until September 2015 when the first Minsk Ceasefire was signed. This ceasefire soon broke down however and a spokesperson for the Donetsk People’s republic stated that the insurgents “Will not accept the Minsk ceasefire in its current condition”. A second, more successful ceasefire was signed in February 2015 by

     

    • Swiss diplomat and OSCE representative Heidi Tagliavini
    • Former president of Ukraine and Ukrainian representative Leonid Kuchma
    • Russian Ambassador to Ukraine and Russian representative Mikhail Zurabov
    • Separatist's leaders Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky

     

    The stipulations of the ceasefires were the following

     

    1. Immediate and full ceasefire in particular districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine and its strict fulfilment as of 00:00 midnight EET on 15 February 2015.
       
    2. Pull-out of all heavy weapons by both sides to equal distance with the aim of creation of a security zone on minimum 50 kilometres (31 mi) apart for artillery of 100mm calibre or more, and a security zone of 70 kilometres (43 mi) for multiple rocket launchers (MRLS) and 140 kilometres (87 mi) for MLRS Tornado-S, Uragan, Smerch, and Tochka U tactical missile systems.
       
    3. Effective monitoring and verification of ceasefire regime and pullout of heavy weapons by OSCE will be provided from the first day of pullout, using all necessary technical means such as satellites, drones, radio-location systems etc.
       
    4. On the first day after the pullout a dialogue is to start on modalities of conducting local elections in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation and the Law of Ukraine "On temporary Order of Local Self-Governance in Particular Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts," and also about the future of these districts based on the above-mentioned law.Without delays, but no later than 30 days from the date of signing of this document, a resolution has to be approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, indicating the territory which falls under the special regime in accordance with the law "On temporary Order of Local Self-Governance in Particular Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts," based in the line set up by the Minsk Memorandum as of 19 September 2014.
       
    5. Provide pardon and amnesty by way of enacting a law that forbids persecution and punishment of persons in relation to events that took place in particular districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine.
       
    6. Provide release and exchange of all hostages and illegally held persons, based on the principle of "all for all". This process has to end – at the latest – on the fifth day after the pullout (of weapons).
       
    7. Provide safe access, delivery, storage and distribution of humanitarian aid to the needy, based on an international mechanism.
       
    8. Define the modalities of a full restoration of social and economic connections, including social transfers, such as payments of pensions and other payments (income and revenue, timely payment of communal bills, restoration of tax payments within the framework of Ukrainian legal field).
       
    9. Restore control of the state border to the Ukrainian government in the whole conflict zone, which has to start on the first day after the local election and end after the full political regulation (local elections in particular districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts based on the law of Ukraine and Constitutional reform) by the end of 2015, on the condition of fulfillment of Point 11 – in consultations and in agreement with representatives of particular districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts within the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group.
       
    10. Pullout of all foreign armed formations, military equipment, and also mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine under OSCE supervision. Disarmament of all illegal groups.
       
    11. Constitutional reform in Ukraine, with a new constitution to come into effect by the end of 2015, the key element of which is decentralization (taking into account peculiarities of particular districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, agreed with representatives of these districts), and also approval of permanent legislation on the special status of particular districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in accordance with the measures spelt out in the attached footnote, by the end of 2015.
       
    12. Based on the Law of Ukraine "On temporary Order of Local Self-Governance in Particular Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts", questions related to local elections will be discussed and agreed upon with representatives of particular districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group. Elections will be held in accordance with relevant OSCE standards and monitored by OSCE/ODIHR.
       
    13. Intensify the work of the Trilateral Contact Group including through the establishment of working groups on the implementation of relevant aspects of the Minsk agreements. They will reflect the composition of the Trilateral Contact Group.

     

     

    Now however it seems this second ceasefire has run its course with the Ukrainian government launching several large scale offensives into separatist held territory following what they claimed were a rocket artillery attack aimed at a spring market festival in the city of Mariupol that took 33 lives and resulted in hundreds wounded. Ukraines recently elected hard-line president Anna Petrozamo stated “These insurgent and their Russian backers have occupied Ukrainian lands for far to long. This will serve as my government's official withdrawal from the Minsk Protocol. The separatists have 48 hours to surrender themselves and all their weapons before we resume combat operations”.

    This sudden declaration has shocked large parts of the international community with both the OSCE and the UN expressing "grave concerns" with the Ukrainian withdrawal from the ceasefire.  President Petrozamo, who was expected to continue the previous presidents approach of diplomatic action and sanctions against Russia, issued a second statement this morning where she dismissed the OSCE and UN's concerns. "For 5 years the Ukrainian people have been forced to endure endless shelling and ceasefire violations by the Russians and their puppet governments in the occupied territories at the cost of hundreds of lives in the hope of a peaceful reintegration of our most eastern oblasts. This time, however, the Russian government has gone too far. The Ukrainian people will not stand for these atrocities, and the requests for mediation by the international organizations that have failed us repeatedly will not stop us from reuniting our country."

     Already reports are coming in of Ukrainian troops routing insurgent at the city of Mar’inka just outside Donetsk itself.  As of writing this the Russian government has made no official statements regarding the new offensive and it remains to be seen if Russia is willing to launch a second intervention into Eastern Ukraine.

    Chaos grips Iran. Country on edge of collapse

    ADA News - September 5th

     

    The Islamic Republic of Iran has faced growing protests and dissent in the past weeks, calling for a dissolution of the theocratic rule that has characterised one of the largest players in Middle Eastern politics. These disturbances have been dormant in Iran for decades since the revolution in the 1970s but has recently seen a huge upswing following the iranian Government's failure to provide a military response to the raid on the Straits of Hormuz but US navy and Marine forces followed by the declaration of independence by the Kurdish minority in North Western Iran.

     

    Reports of disturbances started coming in almost two weeks ago and have steadily escalated since then. With the Iranian regime turning more and more to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps the crackdowns have increased significantly in brutality if not in efficiency. Just last week in the city of Ifshan the IRGC opened fire on a crowd of protesters who refused to disperse when told to do so by the IRGC commander. While the iranian government is not providing any official numbers, unofficial sources state that over 20 people were killed and nearly 100 wounded. Large activity at the local hospitals seems to indicate some degree of truth to these reports.

     

    These brutal crackdowns however seems to have done little more than galvanize the protesters. Just two days after what has become known locally as the Isfhan Massacre the IRGC tried to disperse another protest in Rasht. The IRGC units sent there quickly found themselves overwhelmed and lynched by the mob of protesters. Gruesome pictures of the mutilated bodies of the IRGC members strung up from light poles and hung from overpasses have circulated on social media lately. This finally triggered a public statement from the Iranian government with Minister of the Interior, Ismail Faishal, stating: “These protesters are nothing more than western sponsored terrorists. America is leading our youth astray, sowing division, hatred and violence in our country. This government vows to carry on the fight against the Great Satan”.

     

    Regardless of the harsh rhetoric coming out of Tehran it seems the Iranian government has very little control over the interior of their country. Three days ago reports from an anonymous source within the Iranian Armed Forces revealed that several large military installations across the country have been stormed by large mobs who secured large amounts of weapons, ammunition and even armored military vehicles. While it remains unclear if this was an attack coordinated by some higher leader of the protests or if they were spontaneous acts against a tyrannical government remains to be seen. As of writing this no known organisation has claimed responsibility. These stormings seems to have gone off without much bloodshed themselves leading analysts to wonder if the base commanders were sympathetic to the mobs or if they simply could not hold them back considering the significant deployment of Iranian forces to the Iran Iraq border facing the US-Iraqi buildup.

    Following these incident the Iranian government has refused to give any further comments on the situation. Journalists and foreign dignitaries have been barred from attending any Iranian government function. Several countries have also stated that they are considering evacuation plans for their embassies in Tehran following the increase in violence. The previously planned talks of increased autonomy for the self declared “Kurdish republic of Iran” has seemingly ceased entirely and rumors are currently flooding in regarding US and Iraqi Special Forces crossing the border into Iranian Kurdistan.

    Intense fighting in Northern Alliance territory.
    Insurgents gain ground at heavy cost.

     

    Kinduf region, Afghanistan. Heavy fighting erupted last night in the central part of the Kinduf region in northern Afghanistan. A large number of Insurgents attacked several small outposts belonging to the so called Northern Alliance, a conglomeration government consisting of local politicians, military officers and tribal elders who seized power in the region following the Afghan Governments complete withdrawal from the region. The northern alliance had successfully fought both the Taliban and ISIS-A to a standstill in th e region. In an effort to restore order to the region the Pentagon has acknowledged that US special forces are deployed in the region but have not disclosed what units and what size.

     

    Last weekend reports came in about large Insurgent movements around two small outposts held by the Northern Alliance between the towns of Kinduf and Kaele Noowi. A spokesperson for the US forces in the region who asked to remain anonymous stated the following: “Our local partner force reported that two of their outposts had come under attack by large number of insurgents, both vehicle bourne and on foot. A response force was swiftly gathered and sent to the outposts via helicopter. One of the outposts was held with heavy casualties inflicted on the attacking insurgents, the other suffered severe structural damage and the decision was made to destroy all sensitive material and evacuate to the outpost in order to concentrate the thinly spread Northern Alliance forces into more defensible locations. All in all one US and three or four Northern Alliance soldiers were killed in comparison to well over forty insurgents at each of the sites, including several enemy vehicles. We expect to have the Taliban threat in the central Kinduf region contained within a week ”

     

    With one of the outposts evacuated reports of Taliban movement in the region have increased significantly and rumors of an attempt by the Taliban to secure the region by setting up a system of roadblocks and strongpoints have been circulating in the region. Taliban spokesperson Alhib Ansour released a statement claiming: “Our Brave warriors have driven the infidels and western crusaders from our land, they have bled the enemy dry and inflicted on him a great wound from which he will not recover. With the help of almighty god we will continue our holy war against the foreign crusaders, we will choke our rivers with their dead, we will sow the fields with their limbs, we will suffer this indignation no longer, god willing we shall be victorious.”

     

    The Taliban statement does however fail to meet the reality on the ground where large forces of the Northern Alliance are being reorganized and deployed to contain the Taliban incursion. Despite the heavy fighting very few Northern Alliance casualties have been reported whereas the fields around the outpost still in Northern Alliance hand are littered will the bodies of slain Taliban fighters. This reporter was unable to gain access to the outpost now allegedly in Taliban hands.

    Regardless of the Taliban's bombastic claims of holy wars and the american talk of containment it sadly seems like the fighting in Afghanistan is far from over. ADA News will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated on this new development.

    Hmmmm yeah that would be more problematic than helpful I think. I bet it would be possible to just copy the mag as is but replace the texture with a drum mag... I would have to do a fair amount of research to figure out actually how though. 

     

    EDIT: your comments made me think they just look like a regular mag but with 100 rnds. If that's not the case then disregard the above as if there's a physical difference it shouldn't be too hard to police

    The 100rnd mags have their own in game model so its easy to see if they have it or a regular mag in the gun. Its what they might stuff in their inventory that might be problematic.

    Hahaha fair point. To the removal from boxes idk. I just try and make decent reasons for having stuff based on CS, Company and S-4. Policy says we try to equip ourselves according to currently known MARSOC standards so I suppose it would be CS or company that could decide. That said, personally I dont think it's that big a deal and if we have multicam and AOR 1 in the box then 416s seem fine to me. It is definitely more than feasible to keep them as part of the Task Force Cobra arsenal either way. 

     

    But if we do keep the M27 I would like to see that 100 round drum that Speirs mentioned.

    Personally I'd keep it and the other 416 pattern rifles in and just say its from the Task Force Cobra armory, a joint SF venture like that would (probably) be quite well funded, especially if the CIA are involved.

     

    The 100 Round mags are an RHS item and they do fit all the 5.56 RHS and NIArms weapons, so if we include it we are gonna have to keep and eye on people who run the regular carbines and SBRs so they dont just stuff a backpack full of 100 Round drum mags.
