  2. The game this Saturday will require one aditional mod in the form of a map. On all other regards mods will be the same as last time. This is an attempt at looking into using some other maps than the ones that come with Iron Front. If it proves to problematic we will just revert to using the Iron Front maps for future missions. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=693153082
  3. @Capt Whelan: Wait, are you telling me we can get all of command staff together to play golf, but not to have a command staff meeting???
  4. @Capt Hart@SSgt Songs When they saw that there was an MG42 up for grabs.
  5. Unternehmen Theodoric - WWII German Paratrooper Funop With "Kampfgruppe Whelan" getting some well deserved R&R Im gonna take this opportunity to Fast Forward a bit to the Spring of 1942. Most of the Ukraine is in German hands with the exception of the Crimean Penninsula. The heavily defended Perekop Isthmus is holding up German forces tremendously. Following the barely avoided disaster on Crete the OKW stopped all future airborne operations until further notice. Now however an opportunity has presented itself. Recon units have discovered a gap in the Soviet air defenses and OKW reckon that a well placed airborne assault could crack the Isthmus wide open provided the Paratroopers can take out some key defensive installations. For this purpose the Paratroopers will be issued with the brand new FG42 rifles that look promising on paper but are in dire need of a proper field test. Half of Sturmgruppe Whelan will be issued with these new weapons. So people seemed to enjoy the WWII funop last Saturday so I figured we might continue for however long people feel like it. Switching up a bit from last time we shall be playing as German Paratroopers this time. Our goal will be to casue significant chaos in the rear of the nemy lines. Taking out key defensive installation such as AT, AA and AP obstacles. We will be operating entirely behind enemy lines with some very limited artillery support available from front line troops of "Sonderstab Krim" at the Perekop Isthmus. I will start of the Roster with just one Squad or "stick" but room can and will be made for all who are willing to attend. Initial time for this is around 1900EST follwoing 8321s Team Training on Saturday but adjustments can be made if a majority cannot attend at that time. Roster Sturmgruppe Whelan Squad Leader (FG42): Capt Whelan Squad Medic (MP40): HN Spiers Squad Machingunner (MG42): Capt Hart Assistant Gunner (Kar98k): SSgt Songs Assistant Squad Leader (FG42): HMC (FMF) Rivera Paratrooper (FG42): WOC Levorse Paratrooper (FG42): 2d Lt Netley Paratrooper (Kar98k Scoped): Sgt Mycka Paratrooper (Kar98k): SSgt Hague Paratrooper (MP40): LCpl Frase Luftwaffe forward observer: HMC (FMF) Kakta KG zbV Pilot: MAJ Brueske Mods https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=693153082 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=660460283
  6. The Template comes with some premade basic ones ( @MAJ Brueske confirm?). You will have access to a full arsenal but will naturally only be allowed to pick stuff that is not to anachronistic. Its 1941 so No StG44s no G43s, no late war german camo. The original post has some basic info about weapons and the Squad Leader @Capt Whelan will have a few spare MP40s and Rifle grenade attachments for the Kar98 to distribute as he sees fit.
  7. Not great, not terrible. Im glad someone other than me realize the need for air superiority when we are fighting a numerically superior enemy, on his home turf, in some of the worst terrain in the world, against a terrorist organization who has evaded the worlds most advanced military forces for decades, in a country literally nicknamed "The graveyard of empires"
  8. As you wish @1stLt Cole
  9. Medical will be unchanged from regular 3dMRB settings minus KAT
  10. Thank you both for the rapid response. Advanced Medical with no KAT it is, (take note @MAJ Brueske). Keep in mind that hemostatic combat dressings such as Quikclot and manportable defibrilators did not exist at this time, so you would be limited to Elastic and Packing Bandages, Morphine, Epinephrine, Blood and/or Plasma and a Surgical kit.
  11. As things stand now it looks like 1800-1900 EST is the most popular choice. I will leave the poll up until Friday afternoon so if you have not voted yet, please do so Before then to give a fair representation. Keep in mind that this will be after 8321s operation on Saturday so expect the time to flex a bit depending on if said operation runs long. I'd also like to take this opportunity to list each roles armament and basic gear, it will be added to the main roster a minute or so after this gets posted. I would also like to ask @HMC (FMF) Kaktaand @HN Speirs as the ones in the medic role: Do you want Advanced Medical with this or just the basics?
  12. @Capt Whelan@Capt Hart@LCpl Frase@HN Speirs@2d Lt Netley@LCpl Wenner@Sgt Turk@HMC (FMF) Kakta@Sgt Mycka@MAJ Brueske I would like to Think that we now have enough people to start thinking about a date for this. A Poll will be added to the thread shortly after this is posted with my initial Ideas for a reasonable time. Im thinking Either next Saturday after 8321s Operation, with an hour or so of a break between to allow S2 to cycle the server, people to grab a bite to eat etc etc. Alternatively on the next Sunday prior to Operation time. We would look at around 1500-1600 EST to ensure we do not interfere with S2s server setup for the Sunday night operation. Any other suggested times posted will be considered as well should these times not be suitable.
  13. LCpl Robertues: *Leaps out of a HMMWV like a proper american action hero, sprints to a nearby rock and set his M249 up, yelling "Machinegun up!" HN Speirs: *Completely deadpan* Well, you are looking the wrong way. LCpl Robertues: Oh. Team HQ: *Laughing its ass off*
  14. Very nice, cinematic Pictures, but you do know you can post more than one Picture per post, right?
  15. WWII Funop Interest check. Autumn, 1941 Ukraine SSR Heeresgruppe Süd has driven Deep into The Ukranian SSR and decimated Red Army formations around Kiev Before proceeding towards the Eastern Ukraine and the Don River. The Autumn mud has however slowed the advance significantly with tanks and their massive supply collumns unable to move forward any further. In an attempt to ensure that the Red Army cannot regroup in Peace several light armor recon units are sent ahead of the bogged down Panzer Divisions with orders to find and disrupt Red Army formations in any way possible until such a time as the Tanks can get moving again. So there has been some talk lately about people wanting to do some WWII funops so I figured I would gauge interest at least. What I have in mind have us playing as a recon squad in the Panzer-AufklärungsAbteilung 4 in the early stages of Operation Barbarossa. Spearheading the advance into Ukraine by Heeresgruppe Süd. Our tasking would consist of agressive recon with the goal of destroying Red Army recon units, raiding enemy forward supply dumps, airfields and just generally be a thorne in the side of larger enemy formations. To this end we would primarily be using light armored vehicles such as: Sdkfz 222 Armored car SdKfz 234/1/2/3/4 SdKfz 251 Halftracks Mission would be squad sized initially but can ofcourse be expanded should interest prove high enough. players will be organized along the lines of the early war German Infantry Squad or "Gruppe" Squad Leader: (MP40, 9x 32rnd Magazines, Binoculars, Radio) Squad Machinegunner: (MG34, 4-6 ammo drums, 1x Luger P08/Walther P38) Squad Assistant Machinegunner: (All the MG ammo you can carry, 1x Handgun of choice, Binoculars) Ammunition Carrier: (Even more ammo, Kar98k, 8-10 clips) Squad Medic: (As much Medical gear as feasable, 1x Handgun of choice) Assistant Squad Leader: (Kar98k, 15-20 Clips, Bayonet, Binoculars) Rifleman x4 (Kar98k, 20 Clips, 4xHandgrenades, Bayonet) Vehicle crews would be dedicated to their role and join the Infantry Squad in the event that their vehicle is knocked out or runs out of fuel and/or ammunition. The Vehicles would be subordinate to the Squad Leader. This mission would run the 3dmrb modpack and then simply have the IFA3 mod on top of it for maximum simplicity. If you are interested in this kind of fun op, please post below to make your interest known and if we can get at least a squad and a vehicle for the first test run I will make a template available (read: Very kindly ask @MAJ Brueske to make one) Roster of the willing Gruppe 1 Squad Leader: Capt Whelan Squad Machinegunner: Capt Hart Squad Assistant Machinegunner: Cpl Seixeiro Ammunition Carrier: LCpl Frase Squad Medic: HN Speirs Assistant Squad Leader: SSgt Hague Rifleman 1: 2d Lt Netley Rifleman 2: LCpl Wenner Rifleman 3: Sgt Turk Rifleman 4: OPEN SdKfz 222 Commander: HMC (FMF) Kakta Gunner: Sgt Mycka Driver: OPEN Sturzkampfgeschwader 77 Pilot: MAJ Brueske MOD REQUIRED: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=660460283&insideModal=0&requirelogin=1
  16. Fierce fighting in Northwestern Iran as Iranian Kurds assert independence from Tehran. ADA News - Dateline July 13th, 2019 Fierce fighting has broken out in Northwestern Iran, near the Turkish border. Representatives of “Iranian Kurdistan” have released a statement declaring their intent to secede from Tehran and establish the a “truly independent Kurdistan”. Kurdish leaders Adnan Barishi and Berhem Ceto made their ultimatum clear to Tehran, demanding that Iranian forces would withdraw from the region known as Iranian Kurdistan and a peaceful transition of power to the local Kurds would take place within a month Theran wholly rejected the ultimatum and sent forces into the region. Fighting began on the 1st of July as Iranian forces in the region were ambushed at several major population centres including Piranshahr and Sanandaj. The fighting lasted approximately one week and as of today Kurdish militia units are in control of approximately 75% of their claimed territory. Iran’s ability to crush this uprising by military means are severely limited by the ongoing Iran-Iraq military standoff. Almost all of Iran's combat ready forces are already deployed at the Iran-Iraq border with skirmishes and “incidents” occurring almost daily. Kurdish Peshmerga forces with Iranian POWs near the Iran-Turkey border. This marks a significant shift for the Kurdish people in the middle east as they have so far been relegated to peaceful protests at best and violent but small scale insurgency at worst. International experts have declared Kurdistans declaration of independence as “rushed” and “hasty” considering there have been no similar declaration from the parts of Kurdistan currently located in Turkey, Iraq and Syria. The heavy US involvement in Iraq also faces a new issue as their kurdish allies now control territory on parts of the Iran-Iraq border occupied by the American 10th Mountain Division. Should Iranian Kurdistan’s declaration be followed by similar ones in Iraq the US would be pressed to chose to support either the Kurds whom were staunch allies in the face of ISIS resurgence and its current Iraqi allies. President Moore and his cabinet have been concerningly quiet on this matter, it remains to be seen if this de facto declaration of independence will coax an official statement out of the government. Tehran have, unsurprisingly, declared the uprising an "act of terror" and have blamed NATO forces for cover support of the kurdish militias. The UN has convened an emergency meeting where they hope a resolution can be made regarding the long standing issue of Kurdistan. Loud voices from NATO's European members such as Britain, France, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have all come out heavily in favor of supporting the Kurds and to achieve some form of diplomatic solution. Following the defeat of ISIS in Iraq and Syria increased calls for an Independent Kurdistan have been heard which has caused high level political headaches as Iraq, Turkey and the Kurdish forces are US allies in the region. The US would be forced to make a choice unless a UN resolution can be agreed upon. Either way Iran is unlikely to let parts of their territory slip away so easy. 17. @Capt Whelan: Technically it is illegal to listen to @CW4 Carrera while operating Heavy machinery.
  18. Capt Hawkins: No, Germany is camping simulator (Context deliberately left out)
  19. Looks a lot like recent GRU, Alpha or Vympel group. Modern Russian SF is pretty indistinguishable from its western counterparts in terms of gear, the weapons being the only main visual difference. Even the old wood furnitured rifles are being phased out in favour of polymer and Picatinny rails.
  20. HMC (FMF) Rivera: Alright Im gonna be a Little bit racist here but there is a Point to it, ok.
  21. Afghanistan crumbles amidst Taliban and ISIS disputes. ADA News - Dateline July 6th 2019 The country of Afghanistan has long been a country plagued by war and sectarian violence. From the Soviet invasion in the 70s to the American invasion and subsequent overthrow of the Taliban government it has been a long and troubled path to recovery for the poor middle eastern nation. US Involvement in Afghanistan dropped to a record low during 2016 when the United States withdrew a majority of their forces and allowed the ANA to take over general upkeep and security. With the US withdrawal from Afghanistan the country’s path to recovery took a sharp turn downwards. Taliban force reemerged in less than a year and caught the ill prepared ANA off guard, taking portions of western Afghanistan, most notably including the city of Herat, despite there still being a US presence around the city at the time. From there US forces were redeployed, much to the displeasure of the american public, and control was re-established over western Afghanistan during an 8 month long U.S. lead offensive. The U.S. recommitted to training, more effectively this time, the ANA and ANP to protect and defend their own land. Any progress made during that year was abruptly shattered when ISIS detonated a chemical weapon in the capital city on voting day. Coalition forces struggled to maintain control as public support of the democratic government and coalition forces dropped to the lowest it had in years. Many people turned back to the nearly defeated Taliban for security and support as their democratic government failed them. Spurred on by the sudden influx of support, the Taliban launched a major offensive recovering large areas of Northern Afghanistan and reestablishing Taliban rule in these areas. The Afghan government has announced a “temporary withdrawal” from these areas essentially leaving them wide open for the Taliban to walk in and claim them without resistance. This hegemony over Northern Afghanistan has recently come under threat however as ISIS-A (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria - Afghanistan branch) has seen a significant influx of fighters and material following the ISIS collapse in Iraq and Syria. Using contacts in the fractured Iran, ISIS has managed to transfer large parts of its most diehard fighters to Afghanistan and have begun muscling in on Taliban territory in the North sparking several engagements between the two terrorist organizations. Amidst this chaos, reports are also coming in from a group of political moderates banding together following the Afghan governments withdrawal. These moderates have taken on the name “United front for the Salvation of Afghanistan”, more commonly known as “The Northern Alliance”. Drawing on the legacy of the historic Northern alliance who fought against the Taliban regime from 1996 until the US invasion in 2001. Reports are scarce but over the past couple of weeks it seems that they have successfully fought both ISIS-A and The Taliban to a standstill. ANA forces secure an ISIS-A held compound in Northern Afghanistan. The region's future remains uncertain as the hard pressed Afghan government has declined to comment on what seems like a surrender of their territory to the Taliban. A NATO spokesperson has commented that NATO forces remain committed to the Iran-Iraq standoff but will offer Afghanistan all possible support. The Pentagon has neither confirmed nor denied the rumors of US Special Forces deploying to Afghanistan.
