2016: Horizon Islands Conflict

October 2nd 2016 - Chinese PLA Lieutenant General Zong Shoushan went rogue with his force on the first day of the 2016 RIMPAC exercises hosted in the Horizon Islands. This was the first time China was invited to the exercises, though they were limited to the land-based portion of the exercises, and unexpectedly it was the last since 2016. In attendance were the United States, bringing the 13th MEU, and a very large carrier group, Australia and New Zealand bringing a combined ANZAC Battle Group and a small contingent of their navy. The United Kingdom, Canada, and several other nations were also scheduled to be in attendance but were set to a week later after the introductory exercises between the US, Australia, and China. The surprise attack from the PLA resulted in severe casualties among ANZAC ground forces. A company from the 13th MEU that was beginning the opening ground exercises was similarly surprised by the attack but the PLA was pushed back in force despite the their surprise advantage.

 

October 8th 2016 - ANZAC Forces under the command of Admiral William Ransford, pulled the majority of their forces back to their fleet due to their heavy losses sustained in the first week of fighting. ANZAC losses were numbered at 132 Australian and New Zealand Soldiers. Chinese government announce that Lieutenant General Shoushan had gone rogue and was acting without sanction of the Chinese Government but that Chinese forces will not get involved in the conflict. 13th MEU begins pushing PLA forces back and have established a rough sense of controlled territory.

 

October 11th 2016 - All ANZAC ground forces withdrawn back to their fleet. Fleet moved into a blocking position to prevent Chinese forces from escaping.

 

October 12th - November 14th 2016 - 13th MEU assaults and destroys a majority of Chinese held positions on the island of Tanoa. 13th MEU continues pushing back the PLA but suffer losses.

 

November 15th 2016 - Additional warships from the Royal Australian Navy arrive to aid in the blocking position

 

November 21st 2016 - 11th MEU, commanded by Colonel Jacob Perry, arrives and begins switching out the 13th MEU forces on Tanoa.

 

December 4th 2016 - Lieutenant General Shoushan captured by the 13th MEU in an assault on the Blue Pearl Industrial Port. Secretary of defense states that key members of the PLA's rouge force had been captured but doesn't say them by name.

 

December 8th 2016 - All 13th MEU forces relieved by the 11th MEU and return to the U.S.

 

 

2017: Operation Jungle Hunter (Isla Sula) Operation Wildfire (Afghanistan)

December 2016 - March 2017 - 11th MEU continues to conduct operations on the Horizon islands, cleaning up the remnants of the PLA there.

 

April 2017 - ARTICLE China announces that they will not provide any monetary compensation or aid for the incident. They also claim that they have no responsibility to provide a detailed explanation as they do not support the rogue general's actions, who had been reported missing since the fighting stopped, in any manner. China promises to implement policies to stop actions like this from happening again and that General Shoushan will be prosecuted if he returns to china. Chinese international businesses suffer severe economic losses due to international trade sanctions from many Asian countries and boycotts of Chinese products overseas. Requests for international aid in the South China sea from Vietnam, Philippines and Taiwan due to China's recent actions in Tanoa and the start of china pushing for a larger economic zone. These requests go unanswered by NATO forces due to fear of starting a worse skirmish elsewhere with china.

 

April 24th - 25th 2017 - ARTICLE In Paris public workers call for a general Strike due to labor reform negotiations breaking down in the Parliament on April 21st. Protests run through the first day, mostly peaceful, with the exception of at the base of the Eiffel Tower which involved objects being thrown from the protesters and subsequently tear gas and armored vehicles from the french police. Legislators refuse to negotiate and protests turn more violent. Mid afternoon on the 25th demonstrates make a push for the Palais Burbon, the meeting place for the French National Assembly, and the protests turns violent. Gendarmerie use water cannons and tear gas and barley manage to keep the protesters from reaching the palace.

 

April 30th 2017 - ARTICLE  (Note: This conflict was going to take place in the fictional country of Malakabel. Due to story issues that deployment was scrapped. For our global storyline purposes anything related to Malekabel will be replaced with Oman's neighbor Yemen) U.S. Forces stationed in Oman along the border of Yemen come under indirect mortar fire from across the border. No forces injured.

 

May 3rd 2017 - British Parliament turn down proposal for increased military spending, requested in light of the Chinese Pacific conflict.

 

May 10th 2017 - High tensions in Paris finally cool as French politicians reach a deal on public benefits.

 

May 18th 2017 - ARTICLE The U.S. Consulate in Kahlyia, an island off the coast of Tunisia, (Note: This island was represented by the Sahrani map) is besieged by insurgents. Kahlyian police secure vital travel points in and off the island.

 

May 19th 2017 - ARTICLE Diplomats from the United States' State Department arrive in Oman for peace talks with Yemen. 

 

May 21st 2017 - The 3d MRB, conducting training exercises on the island of Malden, a Greek island, were re-routed to Kahlyia to rescue embassy personnel still trapped inside the consulate. Upon arriving, the insurgents began stepping up their assault on the consulate attempting to force their way inside. Two MSOTs deployed and assaulted the consulate, fighting past the insurgents and pushing their way into the consulate. Amidst a heavy firefight, the remaining marine guards along with the ambassador were extracted VIA a helicopter landing on the roof. The MSOTs were then subsequently extracted.

 

May 22nd 2017 - U.S. President Moore issues statement saying that the ambassador was successfully extracted and that they U.S. is working with the Kahlyian government to identify the faction the insurgents belong to.

 

May 31st 2017 - CIA Identifies the insurgents to have come from Boko Haram, an arm of the ISIS terrorist organization operating out of North/Central Africa.

 

June 4th 2017 - 3d MRB's Alpha Company deployed covertly to the island of Isla Sula, a semi-narco state off the Northern Coast of Venezuela run by the Los Cazados drug cartel with the intent of dismantling the cartel and returning the non-puppet politicians to power. This done with the intention of combating the severe drug trade coming into the United States from Isla Sula and south american nations.

 

June 6th 2017 - United States reveals the captured General Shoushan having been in their custody. Talks with Australia about turning him over to them begin.

 

June 7th 2017 - 11th MEU withdraws from horizon islands.

 

June 8th 2017 - Peace talks with Yemen conclude positively resulting in decreased tensions between Oman and Yemen. Picture of the negotiation site emerges on social media.

 

June 9th 2017 - Operations by the 3d MRB fail catastrophically with multiple members being captured by the Los Cazados and Alpha Company suffering heavy losses.

 

June 10th 2017 - 22nd MEU arrives on Isla Sula having been re-tasked from training operations further north and begins conducting combat operations to cover the failed U.S. special forces operations.

 

June 12th 2017 - ARTICLE News organisations gain word of conventional U.S. military operations in Isla Sula. Minor speculation about it being used as a cover up but primary belief is that President Moore is considering the War on Drugs an actual war, worthy of conventional troop deployment.

 

July 7th 2017 - General Shoushan Turned over to Australian Government.

June - August 2017 - 3d MRB and 22nd MEU conduct joint operations on the island of Isla Sula to destroy the cartel and fully restore the local government to power. Cartel mostly dismantled with some key HVTs making their way out of the island and into other locations through the world.

Taliban gain more power in Afghanistan and insurgent attacks in the area begin increasing centered around the city and outskirts of Herat. Drug trade into the U.S. decreases. Significant uptick in the capacity of drug rehab centers.

 

August 1st 2017 - Australian Government announce General Shoushan will be put on trial in the Netherlands at the Hague for Crimes of Aggression.

 

August 7th 2017 - General Shoushan transported to the Netherlands to await trial. Trial scheduled for August 21st.

 

August 10th 2017 - 3d MRB sent back home to conduct training exercises due to poor performance in Isla Sula

 

August 17th 2017 - Chinese Ministry of State Security fake General Shoushan's death with a bomb and transport him back to China giving him a new name and Identity as Qiao Yong. He is given a large plot of land to live on but his contact to the outside is restricted.

 

August 18th 2017 - International community outraged at the death of the war criminal. Investigation into the cause of death begins.

 

September 6th 2017 - 10th Mountain Division deployed to Afghanistan to takeover operations in and around Herat.

 

September 20th 2017 - Investigation into General Shoushan's death concluded. Leads point to the bomb-makers coming from Africa. Leads stop there.

 

October 15th 2017 - 3d MRB redeployed to Herat to aid local mayor stay in power and fight back against Taliban attacks.

 

October 19th 2017 - China steps up operations in South China Sea. Large scale island-building begins.

 

October - November 2017 - Operations conducted by both conventional and non-conventional forces have little effect on the Taliban's control of Herat.

 

December 3rd 2017 - Herat's mayor abducted from his vila by the Taliban. U.S. forces unable to recover him and he is killed.

 

December 4th - 8th 2017 - Herat falls entirely to Taliban control. U.S. forces pulled out under fire.

 

December 2017 - Taliban push East in Afghanistan taking more territory along the way. Iran works a deal with the Taliban covertly to provide them with weapons provided they do not push into Iranian territory and continue to destabilize Afghanistan. U.S. deploys two divisions of Army forces to Afghanistan. Drone strikes commence on Taliban positions in Herat.

2018: FTX Steadfast Shield, Operation Siren Song & Operation Desert Dragon

January 2018 - 3d MRB deployed to Serbia to conduct training exercises with Serbian armed forces to train them on readiness against unconventional warfare. 3d MRB assigned to function as the unconventional OPFOR for the duration of the training cycle. U.S. forces in begin working their way outward with ANA and attempting to retake western Afghanistan.  Encounter heavy resistance and increased weaponry from the Taliban. U.S. advance slowed to a halt in Chaghcharan about half way between Kabul and Herat. Iran increases cooperation with North Korea to aid in their nuclear program in spite of U.S. requests to close down their own. CIA discovers possible link between Iran and the Taliban. U.S. shuts down military equipment trade deals with Iran and places economic sanctions on them. 

 

February 2018 - Drone strikes and bombings allow U.S. Forces to break free and continue their push towards Herat. 4th Battalion 1st SFG deployed to Afghanistan. ISIS begins large scale operations in Iraq.

 

March 21st 2018 - ARTICLE China, amidst strict U.N. and U.S. Supervision, announces that they will be making up for the attacks in the Horizon Islands by deploying Chinese Engineers to help restore vital infrastructure that had been damaged during the incident. Piracy activity has increased dramatically since the withdraw of the 11th MEU and the U.S. states that they will be deploying troops back to the islands as well to supervise the Chinese Engineers and to aid to removing the bandits and restoring public order.

 

March 25th 2018 - Chinese and U.S. and French forces deployed to Tanoa, despite large scale international uncertainty to China's involvement, to begin anti-piracy and cleanup operations. 3d MRB's Alpha Company assigned to primary counter-insurgency operations in the area.

 

April - June 2018 - China continues primary cleanup operations on Tanoa and U.S. forces eradicate the primary source of piracy on the Islands. 3d MRB withdrawn from the islands to conduct individual training exercises back in the States. U.S. conventional forces continue aiding China's Operations and setting up and training the Horizon Islands Defense Force. U.S. forces in Afghanistan reach western side and the outskirts of Herat. Taliban in the area is well dug-in and supplied.

 

July 2018 - Iraqi military begins "Mosul Offensive" with the aim of crushing the ISIS stronghold in Mosul Iraq. U.S. forces in Afghanistan make little progress at dislodging the Taliban. CIA continues to explore the Iran-Taliban connection. Syria suffers a series of terrorist attacks and bombings from ISIS. Syrian Armed Forces conduct retaliatory operations against ISIS. China begins funneling supplies weapons and monetary support to New People's Army in the Philippines. Public order in the Philippines decreases as terrorist attacks become more frequent. Armed Forces of the Philippines begin conducting major combat operations on the Southern Islands to attempt to dislodge the terrorist group.

 

August 12th 2018 - Supply chains from Iran providing weapons to the Taliban identified.

 

August 18th 2018 - CIA SOG teams, one lead by Mark Stanton, deploy and interdict and destroy Taliban weapon and ammunition supply chains.

 

August 22nd 2018 - U.S. Forces near Herat break through and push into the city. ODA's 1411, lead by CAPT Caleb Doyle, and 1412, lead by 2LT Nathan Bernard, secure mayors residence. Iran establishes a similar trade deal with ISIS.

 

August 24th 2018 - ARTICLE Iraqi Mosul Offensive fails dramatically with over 50% casualty rate among the Iraqi fighters.

 

August 25th 2018 - ARTICLE ISIS detonates a chemical weapon in Baghdad's green zone, where U.S. and Danish embassies are located, killing over 3000. Evacuation of central Baghdad begins to attempt to reduce casualties.

 

August 26th 2018 - ARTICLE & VIDEO U.S. President Moore issues a public statement condemning the actions of ISIS and vowing to destroy them in their entirety as retribution for the innocent lives taken. CIA Assets within Da'esh communicate four key individuals involved in the attacks execution: Mohammead Hamzeh Kahn (MHK), Walid Mahdavi (WM), Baha Udeen Hosseini (BUH), Nazier (NA)

 

August 27th 2018 - ISIS Forces launch full scale assault on Baghdad. Iraqi military struggles to keep them from pushing in closer to the city. U.S. Troops given deployment orders. Military action dubbed Operation Desert Dragon

 

August 30th 2018 - ARTICLE U.S. Forces arrive in Iraq and begin conducting operations to push ISIS back from the city. Other countries refuse to commit troops to the conflict due to believing Iraq too volatile to commit as quickly as the U.S.

 

August 31sth 2018 - UK Special forces and USSOCOM raid a compound on the outskirts of Kirkuk gaining intelligence that Abu bakar al-Baghdadi wrote personally to MHK

 

September 2nd 2018 - U.S. Forces in Afghanistan secure Herat in its entirety. Re-establish a Mayor of the city and begin security operations. Taliban forces vanish, presumed to be regrouping. IED strikes elsewhere in Afghanistan increase.

 

September 5th 2018 - ARTICLE First U.S. casualty from the return to Iraq.

 

September 9th 2018 - USSOCOM Raid indicates possible Sarin Gas origin in Qatar. MSOT 8311 raids bomb factory where the chemical weapon was built. MSOT 8312 Raids compound and captures Abu Abdulrahman al-Turkmani, the leader of the Da'esh forces assaulting Baghdad. HVT Transferred to CIA blacksite. 

 

September 10th 2018 - ARTICLE Russia announces that their wargame, Vostok-18, beginning on September 11th will include China for the first time. This causes concern in the international community at a strengthening relationship between Russia and China.

 

September 11th 2018 - Vostok-18 Begins

 

September 12th 2018 - ARTICLE Three car bombs detonated along the Russian Chechnya Border. Forces sympathetic to ISIS claim responsibility for the attack. 

 

September 13th 2018 - USSOCOM Raid confirms Sarin Gas origins and establishes the route it took from Quatar, through Saudi Arabia, and into Iraq. Russian SPECOPs deployed to Chechnya to target the militant groups of ISIS Sympathizers.

 

September 14th 2018 - CIA Gains intelligence suggesting employees of KhorGas based in Al Khor, Qatar helped obtain sarin gas. Confirms the company as a shell and tracks payments an excess of $5,000,000 functionally confirming the presence of the serin gas. Syrian Armed Forces successfully destroy the pocket of ISIS operating inside their borders.

 

September 15th 2018 - ISIS makes a temporary alliance with Taliban quietly to destabilize Afghanistan. Da'esh Troops dispatched to Afghanistan to aid Taliban. U.S. Forces in Afghanistan come under more frequent fire from hills. Taliban raids compounds in northern Afghanistan.

 

September 16th 2018 - MSOT 8321 raids compound looking for Nazir but discovers intel leading to a chemical cache instead as well as weapons and ammunition supply locations. MSOT 8313 raids a compound looking for another HVT but to no success. ISIS Captures a U.S. Marine.

 

September 17th 2018 - ARTICLE News Outlets gain information that one of the terrorists, BUH, involved in the attack was a U.S. Student from Pittsburgh.

 

September 19th 2018 - ISIS Releases video showing the captured U.S. Marine. CIA begins attempting to identify the location of the broadcast.

 

September 22nd 2018 - CIA Successfully extracts information from Abu Abdulrahman al-Turkmani regarding a possible location of MHK. Information relayed to USSOCOM

 

September 23rd 2018 - MSOT 8311 raids target compound and successfully captures and extracts MHK. Transferred to CIA Blacksite. MSOT 8312 raids and destroyed a major weapons and ammunition cache, crippling ISIS combat operations on the Western Side of Baghdad. 

 

September 29th 2018 - MHK gives up information that a second chemical weapon was being built and was being targeted at Kabul Afghanistan to enable the Taliban and their allies to retake power.

 

September 30th 2018 - Half of Alpha Company 3d MRB redeployed to Afghanistan to track down the remaining HVTs and stop the chemical weapon. ARTICLE Vostok-18 Exercises end.

 

October 1st 2018 - Iraqi Armed Forces and U.S. forces push Da'esh out of the western outskirts and destroy a majority of their force. Remaining part of Alpha Company 3d MRB in Iraq redeployed to Northern Baghdad outskirts to continue combat operations against Da'esh in the area.

 

October 3rd 2018 - CIA Identifies the location of the broadcast and where the captured marine is being held. Information relayed to USSOCOM

 

October 7th 2018 - U.S. Special forces, part of the 3d MRB, in Afghanistan engage and kill 4 civilians in self defense. Compound with captured U.S. Marine raided and his body was recovered but with heavy U.S. Casualties.

 

October 18th 2018 - ARTICLE News outlets get word of the civilian casualties. Public opinion of U.S. presence in Afghanistan decreases significantly.

 

October 19th - November 16th 2018 - U.S. Forces in Iraq successfully push ISIS out of Baghdad area. IAF and U.S. Forces pursue ISIS on search and destroy missions. Public opinion of U.S. increases somewhat in Afghanistan due to the rescue of a local mayor by U.S. forces. USSOCOM stops a sale of chemical agents, kills the ISIS logistics Chief, and the threat of the next chemical attack is believed to have been neutralized. 

 

November 6th 2018 - U.S. President Thomas Moore reelected promising to follow through on his promise of destroying ISIS and keeping the U.S. safe.

 

November 17th 2018 - 3d MRB Cycled home for training.

 

November 19th 2018 - U.S. Forces near Kabul Afghanistan kill Iranian Special Forces operating in Afghanistan with ISIS. Oddity reported up the Chain of Command.

 

November 20th 2018 - ISIS Detonates a second Chemical weapon in Kabul, Afghanistan at a polling station. 1500 killed in the attack. NATO condemns the attack and offers support. The U.N. commits aid but a decision to commit troops is VETO'ed by China and Russia. Public opinion in Afghanistan views the government as providing little leadership and low security. Afghanistan civilians shift focus to the Taliban to restore order and stop future attacks. 

 

November 21st 2018 - Information about Iran reaches CIA. Connections between Iran and ISIS begin to be researched by the U.S.

 

November 27th 2018 - United Kingdom, Canada, and Italy commit forces to aid in Afghanistan in spite of the U.N. veto from China and Russia with the intent of supporting the democratic nation and preventing the Taliban from re-taking control.

 

November 28th 2018 - Taliban attacks in Afghanistan increase, targeting democratic leaders. 

 

December 2018 - Fighting in Afghanistan dies down as the weather takes a sharp turn for the worse. European forces arrive in Afghanistan. ARTICLE Iraqi and U.S. forces destroy last remnants of ISIS in Iraq. U.S. Forces withdraw from Iraq and return home leaving the country in the hands of the Iraqi's. Remainder members of ISIS flee to Africa and the Boko Harem. Fighting in the Philippines continues but at a somewhat slower pace due to losses on the side of the New People's Army. China increases supplies and funding to New People's Army as their series of South China Sea islands and supply chains get up and running.

January 22nd 2019 - President Moore briefed by CIA Director Luka Barron on Iranian involvement in the Chemical Weapon attacks and prior/current funding of money and weapons to both the Taliban and ISIS. Believed to an attempt at destabilizing the region so that Iran could assert hegemony over the region. Iran believed to have provided monetary support for the Chemical weapon attacks. President Moore alludes to this connection in a press conference and vows to spend a significant portion of time following the State of the Union address exploring it with congress.

 

February 5th 2019 - State of the Union Address. Closed doors meeting following the address where President Moore lays out a significant amount of evidence found by the CIA that indicates Iranian involvement in the Chemical weapons attack. President Moore requests special permission to carry out a retaliatory strike against the Iranian coast. Congress approves the action.

 

March 7th 2019 - 13th MEU, commanded by Colonel William Charlesson, and a U.S. Carrier group depart for the Straight of Hormuz. Half of 3d MRB Alpha Company Attached to the Task Force

 

March 14th 2019 - CSG arrives in the Straight of Hormuz. Begin conducting standard flight operations over the Carrier Strike Group.

 

March 15th 2019 - 3d MRB conducts landing area reconnaissance for the 13th MEU but is discovered and engaged. Four 16th SOW Aircraft lost. Primary beach and anti air systems disabled or destroyed.

 

March 16th 2019 - 13th MEU commences landing operations on the Southern Coast of Iran. Republic of Podagorsk signs "Treaty of Military and Economic Cooperation and Assistance" with neighboring Chernarus.

 

March 17th - 23rd 2019 - 13th MEU takes 20km of Iranian territory along the coast and destroys 90% of their offensive and defensive missile systems, and military supply posts in the area, functionally rendering their influence over the key shipping lane void. 3d MRB attempts to capture a Russian Arms Dealer, Viktor Vasilyev, believed to be smuggling weapons and money to ISIS from Iran but the HVT escapes. 

 

March 24th 2019 - ARTICLE 13th MEU pushes out of Iranian territory as the Iranian military finally mounts a counter assault. 13th MEU sustained minimal casualties and destroyed 90% of their assigned targets to the surprise of the Colonel Charlesson, seemingly indicating that the Iranian military is less well trained then previously anticipated and/or the quality of the Marines involved in the operation is second to none. 3d MRB continues operations on the Iranian coastline to track down HVTs believed to have been involved in aiding the chemical weapon attack.

 

March 25th 2019 - President Moore shares his intelligence on Iran and information of the military strike with Iraqi President Haashim al-Abood. President Moore subsequently flies to Iraq for a sit-down negotiation with the Iraqi president on deploying large amounts of U.S. troops to the Iraq-Iran border to help keep the peace.

 

March 26th 2019 - President Haashim al-Abood agrees to U.S. help given the weakened state of the Iraqi military after the failed Mosul Offensive and subsequent war with ISIS. President Moore flies home to the U.S. 

 

March 27th 2019 - Fighting in Afghanistan begins to ramp back up. Coalition forces hold positions and attempt to safeguard democratic leaders. ARTICLE 3d MRB destroys two Iranian jets while conducting a raid in southern Iran.

 

March 28th 2019 - Deployment orders issued to 10th Mountain Division commanded by Major General Alexander Match, 7th Mechanized Infantry Division commanded by Major General Thomas Daniels, 82nd Airborne Division commanded by Major General Aaron Eckhart and 1st Marine Division commanded by Major General Roboert Castillo. Troops begin to mobilize to deploy to the Iraq-Iran border.

 

March 30th 2019 - Combat ready force from the 10th Mountain Division arrives in Reshmaan Province Iraq-Iran along the border. 3d MRB redeploys to Reshmaan.

 

March 31st 2019 - ARTICLE Chinese troops withdrawn from the Horizon Islands to international relief. Military drawdown continues as functions continue to be turned back over to the Horizon Islands Defense Force and Government.

 

April 3rd 2019- Political Unrest in the Republic of Altis and Straits begins after an economic downturn in the Mediterranean

 

April 4th 2019 - VIDEO President Moore announces the attack on the Straights of Hormuz stating that it was done by U.S. forces with the approval of congress. He states that the U.S. will be deploying troops to the region to ensure Iraq's safety and issues it as a warning to the Iranian Leadership. 

April 5th 2019 - Strong U.S. presence established along the Iraq-Iran border. Initial discussion regarding TF Cobra begins.

 

April 6th 2019 - ARTICLE French forces deployed to Mali to assist with the safety of elections and the engagement of a re-surging Boko Harem

 

April 7th - May 1st 2019 - Flash-points between the two sides at the Iran-Iraq border erupt in intervals causing escalating tensions.

 

April 17th 2019 - Extremists in the Republic of Altis and Stratis begin to patrol the streets. Local law enforcement and military deadlocked by indecisive policy making.

 

April 29th 2019 - Altis Armed Forces fire on rioters killing 6  wounding 17 and arresting 50. Political deadlock continues.

 

May 5th & 6th 2019 - Cycle 8 & 9 for MSOT 8313. Attempt to capture Habib Kushan (Leader in the Iranian Military sent to Reshmaan province to oversee troop training) failed. MSOT stayed in field and defended against an Iranian counter attack. After receiving word on the updated location of the HVT, the MSOT moved to his location and assaulted the compound. Habib Kushan was killed in the firefight but his laptop was recovered.

 

May 8th 2019 - All four divisions of U.S. troops arrive at the Iraq-Iran border

 

May 9th 2019 - Intel from Habib Kushan's laptop recovered that reveals the location of a high ranking Quids Force officer as well as intel indicating the movement of a convoy transporting the remnants of the Iranian backed Chemical arsenal.

 

May 11th 2019 - MSOT 8321 kill Arash Tadaki (An american born radicalized individual who worked a chemical weapons bomb maker for the Islamic Front).

 

May 12th 2019 - ARTICLE A flashpoint takes place between Iranian forces and U.S. forces which results in both forces crossing to the opposite sides of the border in retaliatory efforts. ARTICLE Nigerian forces ambushed by Boko Harem in the Northern part of Nigeria. Nigerian armed forces increase military response to the northern border. Tensions in the Republic of Altis and Stratis appear to subside somewhat.

 

May 13th 2019 - ARTICLE Situation in Republic of Altis and Stratis deteriorates significantly with the Molos massacre. The AAF open fire on a large group of protesters massacring everyone. Immediately following, three radical groups on the island use the unrest to seize control of most of the territory. AAF pushed back significantly. Emergency meeting is called among the Altis government and U.S. Aid is requested. MSOT 8313 conducts a mission and secures sensitive material that positively indicates the Iranian government in the chemical weapon attacks. MSOT 8321 conducts a mission that secures the final movement of chemical weapons inside Iran.

 

May 14th 2019 - ARTICLE Redeployment orders given to Alpha Company, 3d MRB. Rapidly deployed to Naples and transported to a carrier group en rout to the Republic of Altis and Stratis. 

 

May 15th 2019 - Task Force Cobra final recommendations/evaluations sent up by General Godfrey after briefing the MSOTs of Alpha Company 3d MRB on their objectives for the Altis RAD. MSOT 8313 conducts an operation which successfully rescues a member of the U.S. Embassy who got lost in the evacuation. MSOT 8321 conducts an operation which rescues remaining trapped members of the U.S. Consulate in Pyrgos. AAF push in and secure Pyrgos after the MSOT departs.

 

May 16th - 18th 2019 - AAF consolidate and take back a majority of territory with the aid of Air Support from the U.S. Carrier group. 

 

May 19th 2019 - MSOT 8321 conducts an operation that intercepts a shipment of weapons going to the Altis Islamic Liberation Front via Aircraft from an unknown location off-island. The shipment is captured and the pilot killed. Origin of the flight is unable to be traced due to the destruction of the aircraft. 

 

May 20th - 27th 2019 - Intel showing Iranian government's involvement with the Chemical Weapons leaked to the Kurdish Rebels in Northern Iran and to the Iranian Public. Political unrest begins inside Iran as the people become aware and displeased with the actions of the government. Kurdish Rebels begin to see an influx of volunteers. AAF fully regain control of the Republic of Altis and Stratis. Alpha Company, 3d MRB cycles home for training.

 

May 28th 2019 - U.S. Carrier group stationed at the Republic of Altis and Stratis depart as talks among the Altian Government begin in ernest. French, Italian, and Greek governments involve themselves in discussions with the Altian Government.

 

June 1st - 22nd 2019 - Political stability in Afghanistan deteriorates even more. ISIS begins muscling in on Taliban Territory with some cross-terror group flash-points occurring as a result . Several political leaders assassinated in the north despite the presence of Coalition Forces attempting to keep order. ANA and ANP completely withdraw from a significant portion of Northern Afghanistan along with coalition troops. A loose regional government of known as the Northern Alliance is formed by political moderates in the north to attempt to combat the terror organizations. Iran experiences Major Rioting inside major cities. Kurdish Rebels gain significant traction and recruitment and begin slowly establishing outposts and territory in Northern Iran. ODA 1411 and ODA 1414 deployed to aid Kurds in training and equipping. CIA Begins funding the rebels.

 

June 23rd - July 7th 2019 - Northern Alliance in Afghanistan experience success in combating the Taliban and ISIS, but due to limited numbers and weapons are unable to go on the offensive. Phantom 2, ODA 1412, ODA 1413 forward deployed to COP Endurance in Northern Afghanistan.

 

July 8th 2019 - Task Force Cobra Officially formed. ODA 1411 and 1414 kept in Iran with Phantom 1 to continue training operations.

 

July 10th 2019 - MSOT 8311, MSOT 8312, MSOT 8321 Arrive at COP Endurance and are briefed by Mark Stanton, TL for Phantom 2. MSOT 8312 Departs COP Endurance for AO Sandstone. MSOT Arrives successfully and establishes a forward camp overlooking the AO.

 

July 11th 2019 - MSOT 8312, after an attempted assault on AO Sandstone, breaks contact and attempts to camp in field. MSOT 8312 is ambushed during midday by ISIS Forces having most of their men critically wounded. Two MRZRs are lost to ISIS and the MSOT breaks away with critical wounds in all personnel. Phantom 2 mounts a rescue operation and recovers MSOT 8312 in field and all MSOT members are immediately flown to a Medical Center in Herat for emergency medical care. MSOT 8321 departs COP Endurance and assaults AO Rhinestone in an attempt to capture Mikhail Vashcenko. During the MSOT's assault, Mikhail Vashcenko Escapes over the border into Turkmenistan.

 

July 12th 2019 - MSOT 8311 departs COP Endurance and infils into AO Bloodstone taking a Taliban camp. MSOT 8311 assaults Taliban camps to the S of their AO as a diversion and then regroups at a hidden camp in proximity to AO Bloodstone. 3rd ANA Brigade begin a 5 day battle for Kandahar against Taliban Forces

 

July 13th 2019 - ARTICLE Kurdish Rebels in Iran declare their independence amidst the political turmoil in Iran. Iranian Kurdistan establishes their territory limits which Iran rejects using military force. MSOT 8311 raids the location believed to house HVT Bloodstone, Malik al-Ransoor, but finds no HVT and finds no intel. MSOT 8311 returns to COP Endurance and Mark Stanton concludes they received bad intel.

 

July 15th 2019 - Mark Stanton sends first SITREP email to LtCol Williams

 

July 17th 2019 - ARTICLE LtCol Williams sends a response to Mark Stanton. ARTICLE ANA/Coalition forces emerge victorious over the Taliban in Kandahar. MSOT 8321 conducts a raid on a local ISIS command post and re-captures the missing MRZR and GPS unit. Herat Airbase places aircraft on a permanent QRA to assist Task Force Cobra when necessary.

 

July 18th 2019 - Combat Engineers from Herat deploy to COP Endurance and begin work on upgrading the COPs defenses and establishing an OP on the adjacent mountain.

 

July 19th 2019 - ODAs 1421 & 1422 replace ODA 1411 and 1414 in Iran. Phantom 1 replaced by another CIA asset in Iran.

 

July 20th 2019 - ODA 1411, ODA 1414, and Phantom 1 arrive at COP Endurance in Afghanistan and are briefed by Mark Stanton.

 

July 22nd 2019 - Phantom 2 cements a working relationship with the Northern Alliance. ODA 1413 moves from the OP into the Northern most NA FOB and begins training their troops and strategically advising their leaders. ODA 1411 deploys to the Southern most NA FOB and begins troop training. ODA 1414 move into ISIS territory and begin painstakingly identifying all ISIS Camps and checkpoints in their controlled area.

 

July 25th 2019 - ODA 1414 conclude reconnaissance operations and return to COP Endurance.

 

July 27th 2019 - Upgrades to COP Endurance and creation of OP Ray conclude.

 

July 28th 2019 - ARTICLE Mark Stanton sends second sitrep to LtCol Williams. Combat Engineers return to Herat. MSOT 8312 returns to COP Endurance after having recovered from their injuries in Herat. MSOT 8312 deployed to OP Ray to ensure they have fully recovered.

 

July 29th 2019 - BRIEFING MSOTs 8311, and 8321 conduct extended operations spanning the entirety of ISIS territory to destroy their AA capabilities. Acting off of the intel gathered by ODA 1414 who painstakingly mapped out each of the ISIS Camps, and info from Phantom 1 indicating the existence of an ISIS manifest and detailing their IGLA cache locations. The MSOTs systematically destroy each ISIS camp, along with their IGLAs, and raid their Cache locations, recovering the manifests and destroying the majority of ISIS's Anti-Aircraft capabilities. While this is occurring, the Taliban launch an assault on the Southern side of Kinduf which is being held by ODA 1411 and Northern Alliance Trainees. Using CAS diverted from MSOT 8321, ODA 1411 successfully holds off the assault on their FOB by the Taliban. The Taliban does seize the majority of the Southern valley and this is reported back to Phantom 2. The MSOTs RTB after a successful mission.

 

July 30th 2019 - BRIEFING Mark Stanton devises a combined arms assault to take back the Southern end of Kinduf and secure it against further Taliban threats. At 0300 IGT, MSOT 8321 inserts to the town of Zagun to the W of Kinduf to secure the fllank for the Task Force. The town is cleared of hostiles, suspicious individuals are detained, and the town is blockaded. ODA 1414 conducts the same mission as MSOT 8321 but to the town of Benamir. With the flanks secured at 0500 IGT MSOTs 8311, 8312, ODA 1412 and the ODA and MSOT Company HQs deploy to FOB Dragon (Southern Northern Alliance FOB in Kinduf) and conduct a combined arms assault with ODA 1411 and the Northern Alliance forces to retake the valley. By 0800 the valley had been retaken and permanent BPs and OPs are established on the eastern side to prevent further Taliban attack.

 

July 31st - August 13th 2019 - EOD Team deployed to COP Endurance and clears the route between COP Endurance and FOB Dragon. EOD Team stationed at FOB Dragon with the ODA. Major uptick in indiscriminate IED bombings in and around Kinduf. EOD team conducts near daily operations with Northern Alliance to attempt to keep roads clear. Task Force Cobra receives further supplies needed to fully equip and train the Northern Alliance. Due to the destruction of ISIS anti-air capabilities and the route clearance done by the EOD team, equipment able to be effectively distributed to both FOB Dragon and FOB Giant. Security measures begin to be taken for family of Northern Alliance members to protect against Taliban influence and manipulation. Large number of Northern Alliance recruits graduate and dramatically increase the effective force size of the NA. Equipment necessary to field the new troops delivered to both FOBs. Phantom 1 conducts deep infiltration missions to identify bomb-maker and Taliban offensive structure. 

 

August 14th 2019 - Mark Stanton confirms last minute intel that gives the locations of 6 individuals planting IEDs for the Taliban. MSOTs 8311, 8312, 8321 are tasked with capturing these individuals and extracting or destroying their IEDs. The MSOTs successfully accomplish this task and RTB. Shortly after returning to COP Endurance, the TOC receives requests for help from the two undermanned and overextended Northern Alliance COPs in the Kinduf Valley. MSOT 8312, and 8321 deploy to the COPs to aid in fending off the Taliban's retaliatory attack. The Southern COP is successfully defended and MSOT 8321 extracts following confirmation that no further attacks were incoming. The Northern COP was nearly leveled by the Taliban and Company HQ and MSOT 8312 made the decision to withdraw from the COP as it lacked further tactical advantage.

 

August 15th 2019 - On intel received from the captured Bomb Planters, MSOT 8311 conducts an operation which kills the Talibans primary bomb-maker in the region, and destroys a large stockpile of IEDs. Taliban boast about having taken a COP from Northern Alliance.

 

August 17th 2019 - BRIEFING MSOTs briefed by Mark Stanton on TOP SECRET upcoming operations. ARTICLE Media outlets receive word and release articles on recent fighting in Kinduf. ARTICLE GCT releases article on the Russian Federation following Russian Threats towards Ukraine. Russia and Belarus announce a joint military exercise. NATO announces a simultaneous exercise in Ukraine.

 

August 18th 2019 - MSOT 8321 aid the infil of a CIA asset and begin the inter-Taliban faction war. MSOT 8312 conducts a simultaneous operation that pits the other faction in the Taliban against their allies. Major fighting erupts in the region with the Taliban taking up arms against each other. Vietnamese forces have skirmish with Chinese PLA along northern border. Iranian kurds enter talks with Iranian government over autonomy.

 

August 19th 2019 - Northern Alliance forces make a push aided by the ODA's to secure the central valley of the Lythium province. MSOT 8311 conducts an operation which sees Bloodstone, the leader of the Taliban, executed by what appears to be the rival faction within the Taliban.

 

August 20th - August 30th 2019 - Taliban civil war continues and Bloodstone's right hand man Daanesh Malikzai (FOXGLOVE), who is a CIA imbed, succeeds in gaining the upper hand as well as the expected popular support of the Taliban at large. Task Force Cobra assists Northern Alliance in exploiting the conflict for further territorial gains in the Lythium province and help safeguard against ISIS assaults. Task Force Cobra prepares to be replaced at COP Endurance and return state-side.

 

August 31st 2019 - Forces from SOCOM arrive at COP Endurance and conduct a full handoff with Task Force Cobra. All TFC assets flown back to Herat Air Base to begin a flight home. Phantom 2 stays behind to conduct further familiarization with relief forces and conduct a hand off with the Northern Alliance.

 

September 1st 2019 - Phantom 2 conduct hand off with NA leadership and are flown to Herat for their flight back to the US.

A Surface Action Group with the LHD USS Thorne as the Flagship deploy to the Black Sea and Sea of Azov to support the Under Secretary's visit.

 

September 29th 2019 - Alexander Rodriguez and CDF escort struck by an IED while traveling near Kovrov in Podagorsk. USS Thorne dispatches a QRF in response to the bombing which extracts the Under Secretary and wounded to the Surface Action Group for medical aid. President Moore apprised of the situation and briefed on his condition. President begins a larger interface with CIA Director Luka Barron to determine the origins of the attack. LtCol Williams notified and put on standby. ARTICLE Bombing leaked to the press and Grand Central Times releases an article detailing their knowledge of the situation.

 

September 30th 2019 - ARTICLE Task Force Cobra Issued deployment orders and departs to SAG Victory in the Sea of Azov.

 

October 1st 2019 - MSOT 8321 raids a factory nearby the ambush site of the Under Secretary in Podagorsk. Discovers a cache for vehicles and weapons with actionable intel on additional points of interest elsewhere on Podagorsk. MSOT 8311 & 8312 deploy to the northern coast of Podagorsk and receive the intel from Hades on points of interest. 8311 & 8312 raid multiple locations and in the process discover a manifest indicating a large shipment of weapons, vehicles, and manpower had been sent over to Chernarus. SAG Victory moves in vicinity to the Chernarussian coast. ARTICLE Press speculates the presence of US forces in the region. MSOT 8311 & 8312 link up at a Chernarus Defense Force (CDF) checkpoint after receiving reports of CDF troops in contact. MSOTs ordered to push north to clear out forces at the same time the CDF recieves reports of a mass of enemy forces moving South. CDF withdraws to fallback positions and poor communication from CDF to Task Force Cobra leaves MSOT 8311 & 8312 ambushed by enemy forces. Casualties suffered and MSOTs withdraw. Red Guard forces sweep through NE Chernarus and CDF suffers many casualties and losses to equipment while attempting to fallback. CDF finally musters a fallback position and holds their ground against the Red Guard.

 

October 2nd - 5th 2019 - CDF Strongpoints defensive positions with the aid of Task Force Cobra forces conducting numerous raids, participating in defenses and offensive operations to stall or cripple the Red Guards offensive capability. Red Guard establish defensive frontlines opposite the CDF and a fighting slows.

 

October 6th 2019 - Red Guard declare themselves a legitimate state; rebranding as the Democratic Peoples Republic of Chernarus or DPRC. Front line stalls as both sides solidify defensive positions and attempt to recover from the heavy fighting.

October 13th 2019 - MSOT 8312 assist in a failed CDF assault on Devils Castle and suffer heavy losses.

 

October 14th 2019 - ARTICLE Pentagon confirms the death of five US Special Operators that were killed in Chernarus during the castle assault.

 

October 15th - 21st 2019 - US Special Forces conduct cross-border operations against DPRC supply lines, defenses, and military instillations. Russian Spetsnaz conduct similar operations against CDF Forces. Air flashpoint occurs with both US and Russian jets scrambling and taking losses due to anti-air forces. US and Russia both attempt to de-escalate, largely because neither countries offensive plans are prepared. Stalemate between conventional forces intensifies as both the US and Russia attempt to avoid a full-scale conflict. 

 

October 22nd 2019 - ARTICLE DPRC assault CDF near Cherno which draws forces away from a politicians house which is raided by Spetsnaz forces. US Forces get involved and Russia shuts down conflict through communication with the US. Politician from the Republic of Chernarus abducted in the fighting.

 

October 23rd 2019 - ARTICLE ROC politician reported missing by the media. Chernarussian Liberation Front, the resistance fighters recently trained by Task Force Cobra's ODAs begin offensive operations against the DPRC. 

 

October 24th 2019 - MSOT 8321 raid a DPRC prisoner transfer convoy and recover the ROC Politician.

 

October 26th 2019 - ARTICLE DPRC shoot down CDF helicopters in close proximity to the main airbase. MSOT 8312 respond and kill the DPRC forces in proximity to the airbase.

October 29th 2019 - ARTICLE Chernarussian Liberation Front bomb a Russian Military Convoy.

 

October 30th 2019 - INTEL INTEL US Intelligence intercept information that Russian Forces are planning a large military offensive into NATO held territory in Chernarus. US Forces plan a rapid counter-offensive designed to cripple Russian and DPRC forces air and primary resupply capabilities. Alpha Company, 3d MRB conduct strikes against radar, supply, and defensive positions along the NE coast of Chernarus. This is followed up by a conventional CDF assault on Berezhino and an assault from the 13th MEU on the Northern Airbase designed to cut off supply and reinforcements to Chernarus. Russian forces attempt to mount a defense but fail and are pushed South.

 

November 1st 2019 - ARTICLE US and Russian diplomats convene an emergency meeting in Stockholm to address tensions reaching full armed conflict. Ultimately an agreement is reached and both countries agree to a ceasefire and a withdraw of all of their troops from the country.

 

November 2nd 2019 - US and Russian troops consolidate and begin withdraw of all conventional forces from the region. Both countries leave in place their special forces units unofficially.

 

November 5th 2019 - ARTICLE Withdraw of Russian forces complete. CDF reoccupies their territory. DPRC forces become insurgents and continue to fight using unconventional warfare.

 

November 6th 2019 - ARTICLE IDAP deploys humanitarian aid to the country.

 

November 7th - 14th 2019 - DPRC continue unconventional attacks against built up infrastructure and CDF forces with the aid of Russian Spetsnaz. US Special Forces conduct counterinsurgency operations against DPRC and attack their leadership and communication structure.

 

November 15th 2019 - INTEL TFC recover intel indicating the whereabouts of the DPRC's General Surorov.

 

November 16th - 25th 2019 - US and CDF forces continue to make progress against the DPRC. General Surorov brokers a deal with Viktor Vasilyev for a chemical weapon to be brought into country.

 

November 26th 2019 - INTEL US discover covert Spetsnaz staging grounds. A series of raids are conducted by the 3d MRB to eliminate the Spetsnaz presence. Most raids are successful and US confirms the presence of Spetsnaz in country. Remaining Spetsnaz forces retreat into Russia. MSOT 8311 establishes reconnaissance on a safehouse known to be used by General Surorov.

 

November 27th 2019 - MSOT 8311 fails to apprehend Surorov as he approaches his safehouse and he quickly retreats to a compound across Chernarus that contains the chemical weapon purchased from Viktor Vasilyev. MSOT 8311 with aid from the CDF successfully capture and prevent the deployment of the chemical agent but Surorov escapes into Russia. ARTICLE Grand Central Times release a piece on US Military advisors that remain in Chernarus.

 

November 28th 2019 - ARTICLE With their leadership gone the DPRC functionally ceases to exist. Fighting ceases, save for a few raids by the US and CDF of remaining known positions.
