Operation Abraham's Fist Mechanized - Armored PvE Fun Operation Intro Following the 1974 Mali Civil War, two countries separated and proclaimed independence from the Republic of Mali. The countries that broke off were the Republic of Prusalem and the Islamic State of Mutrana. Due to ethic and religious differences, the two countries would often end up having border disputes and skirmishes. Outside of that, they maintained relatively peaceful relations. On the 5th of April 2018, the government of the Islamic State of Mutrana decided to commence a flash attack on the Prusalem city of Grosa, inflicting heavy civilian and law enforcement casualties. The attack was a retaliatory response to the murder of a government official; rumors lead to believe that the Prusalem state security agency was behind this assassination. The two countries are currently in a state of high alert and it seems that war is unavoidable, arms are starting to pour in to support both sides. Isreal and France are the two main armament sponsors behind the Republic of Prusalem, while Saudi Arabia is supporting and arming the Islamic State of Mutrana through backwater channels. Situation Briefing The President of Prusalem has given the Army the go-ahead to proceed with the first strike and commence an armored spearhead into Islamist territory. The Isreali Sayeret Matkal unit has been covertly inserted into our country and are currently performing reconnaissance while behind enemy lines, and our Merkavas are ready to commence combat operations and destroy the enemies defensive emplacements. Task Force Arrow's task will be to push into Mutranian territory and seize the town of Seim, and hold it until Task Force Gopher arrives. We should expect heavy enemy armor and infantry presence inside and around that town according to the French Military Intelligence report. Enemy air presence is expected to be low as the front is currently in a dead-lock due to friendly SAM sites. Expect low air support, and occasional artillery support. Our batteries will commence firing on distant enemy positions and the enemy airfield at the city of Moyita as soon as we commence combat operations. Date/Time: Saturday, April 14th 2018 @2000ET Location: Afghan-Turkmenistani Border (GOS Dariyah [Steam Link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=701535490 ]) // Transmission Begin // CLASSIFIED. READ AND DESTROY. Background Report: // Memorandum from REDACTED to the Office of SACEUR. [03/17/2018] // After the US 'withdrawal' in Afghanistan in early 2014, insurgent forces such as ISIS and the Taliban have become an ever-growing threat, feeding off of the corruption of the Afghan government. Those that they could influence were bribed, those that couldn't were killed. After three years of neglect, nearly 70% of the country lies in the hands of insurgent cells and criminal drug rings that owe their allegiances in some part to one (or more) of the groups listed above. [Memorandum lists more statistics not relevant.] They, however, are not the subject of this report. In mid-2015, a brazen attack on the Parliament of Kabul made headlines as one of the most ambitious attacks of the war. While most were quick to point the finger at the Taliban, intelligence sources were able to link this to a small and independent insurgent cell that was otherwise unremarkable located in the northwestern corner of Afghanistan. [Memorandum gives description of region as well as history of cell in question.] Quietly, several CIA officers were dispatched into determine the validity of the source(s), including one Officer Jack Ryan [Redact later?]. [Memorandum lists day-to-day CIA operations.] What they uncovered was unprecedented, to say the least. Despite serious difficulties surrounding intelligence gathering in the area, the information collected points to a massive and well-funded terror organization linked to various shell companies located in the Middle East and beyond. This shadow organization is easily the (estimated) size of ISIS, with exponentially more military capacity and a blank check that would make most third-rate militaries blush. While the money trail is impossible to follow, the supplies aren't, and most of what they have [in theater?] seems to be located in secure facilities in Turkmenistan, being bought from various sources around the globe. Intelligence analysts were able to collate information gathered with satellite imagery to show large training camps more reminiscent of a military than insurgency in what appear to be former Soviet-bloc installations converted for semi-modern use. Due to the severity of the situation, and the threat this may pose to every nation within NATO, I ask that a portion of Task Force Rainbow operatives be re-routed from REDACTED operations to combat this new enemy. Phase I Brief: // Operation THRASHER I // At 0500 hours, you will depart Herat to an ex-OGA black site, code named "Eagle's Nest", located a few miles from the Turkmenistani border. Due to the unreliable nature of the Afghan Army and Police, you will arrive via civilian transport under the guise of businessmen looking to create an oil pipeline connecting the petroleum refineries in Turkmenistan to gas storage facilities in Afghanistan. All equipment, vehicles, and supplies needed for day-to-day operations will be located at the black site. Upon arrival at the Eagle's Nest, you will receive individual mission briefs as well as team assignments. // End Transmission // Slots are open, keeping it pretty vague until I can get an idea of how many will attend, etc. First written op, so feel free to make suggestions or blatantly criticize my poor writing skills or *inaccuracies*. NOTE: This is not a MARSOC-only OP, and the slots only reflect a general 'role'. Due to the nature of Team Rainbow, individual participants will be able to make a choice of SOF they represent so long as it is a part of a NATO nation as well as has some form of STANAG weaponry. This will reflect in the equipment utilization as well as general appearance, but note this is still restricted due to uniforms/equipment/etc being 'sanitized' (meaning no flags or obvious markers that would tie a SOF or nation to the OP).
