MSOT 8312 VIKING & 160th SOAR

SITUATION
3d MRB is participating in training exercises with the 13th MEU (SOC) to improve amphibious capabilities when conducting littoral operations against a conventional opponent.
This operation intends to assess the ability of each unit to conduct independent operations in a complex environment as well as coordinate and conduct a high-risk raid behind enemy lines with support.
ENEMY:
A Russian Battalion Tactical Group (BTG) consisting of Mechanized Infantry, reinforced by Light Infantry and Armor, is holding the SE Island of Tanoa.
FRIENDLY:
3d MRB will assist the 13th MEU in conducting an amphibious landing of the SE Tanoan island staging from the SW island.
MISSION
MSOT 8312 Viking will conduct an unsupported raid on the town of Tobakoro In Order To (IOT)
1. Destroy a BTR-80A Defending the Town
2. Guage the enemies' QRF response
3. Reduce the number of defenders on the NW side of the island
160th SOAR will exploit an air-defense gap and conduct an unsupported aerial raid against the city of Lijnhaven IOT
1. Eliminate a 2S1 battery
2. Disrupt or Destroy vehicle maintenance facilities
3. Reduce the number of Mechanized and Armored assets in the southern side of the island
4. Disrupt or Destroy enemy HQ / Command and Control in the south
ONCE COMPLETE
MSOT 8312 Viking Supported by the 160th SOAR will then conduct a raid on the Electronic Warfare (EW) & Signal Platoons in the center of the island IOT
1. Conduct SSE to gain encryption codes
2. Enable the use of BLUFOR UAVs
3. Reduce the risk of radio direction-finding equipment being used against friendly forces
As a secondary objective and time/situation permitting, the raid will also destroy the Howitzer Platoon and the 2S1 Battery in the vicinity.
RECONNAISSANCE
The reconnaissance picture is provided using full spectrum intelligence analysis relying most heavily on SIGINT, and HUMINT, in the form of 13th MEU Force Reconnaissance Elements. UAV Recon is unavailable due to OPFOR EW Capabilities.
Markings of enemy positions are expected to be accurate at ± 25 meters

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
The first half of the operation is intended to be conducted entirely separately. Insertion and actions on target must be conducted organically by both 8312 and 160th SOAR. Plan so that the first objective takes no more than 1 hour.
All usual coordination and tactics are permitted after both units have completed their primary objectives and are conducting the secondary objective. Please plan this objective, and what time you would like to step off, together.
